Random Question About Sweating/Being Hot

Tried searching for this before starting a new thread and all I found were threads of people talking about sweating MORE since starting Keto (I sure hope not…lol). Just curious if the opposite has happened for anyone?

Even when I was thin and young I always remember sweating, being hot, etc. Didn’t matter the time of year. I wonder if it’s just genetics or maybe from bad eating habits, who knows. So of course if I get sweaty now or bitch that I’m hot, the first things people say or think is that I should lose some weight or it’s due to being overweight. But, as I said, this has been all my life even as a teen and even when I was thin.

So, has anyone been a big sweater, lost weight and can now tolerate the heat better? I’m HOPING that MAY be a nice side affect (not that I’ve read anything stating this could/would happen). But one can dream, can’t they?. LOL

Yes, it gets better when you lose weight. The main reason is most likely due to the (skin surface)/(body volume) ratio, which increases as your lose weight and therefore, volume. However you still have roughly the same amount of surface through which heat can radiate.

Yes, I was a BAD sweater (weighed about 400lbs) … now (244lbs) normal and actually run a little cold most times.

I mean, I used to sweat eating ice cream in an igloo  Now, I find I run normal to maybe even a little cooler then others in my office.

I’m hopeful, but skeptical. Especially since I sweat a lot even at 159 lbs. But back then I never ate healthy either so who knows if that played a part in all of that.

Yes- I can certainly say that I sweat less now! I am one of those numbers freaks that tracks EVERYTHING. I work out 5-6 times per week and I’ve been using an InBody 570 scanner every three weeks to track changes to my body composition. I would like to say that losing fat overall is the biggest contributor to running cooler and sweating less but I also think that the visceral fat loss is the bigger part of that.

If you are like most you will notice that your sweat and BO smell less bad the cleaner you eat.

Also, as counterintuitive as it might seem, I sweat less during my workouts when I take a half teaspoon of salt with my pre-workout. Reading The Salt Fix helped me understand this mechanism and I love it.

Absolutely, unquestionably. Not a huge loss on a percentage basis, either. 340 lbs. to 285. I also feel strongly that far fewer carbohydrates in my diet has made a beneficial difference, too.

I don’t know how much I am perspiring these days, but I do know that I’m not nearly as greasy. I used to have to keep washing my face, even in wintertime, because greasy perspiration kept building up. But this winter I never washed my face except while showering. I don’t perspire nearly as much during the night as I used to (always had to shower in the morning for that reason). Or put it this way, if I’m perspiring, it’s all water and I’m not noticing it.

I always found certain foods made me sweat and flush.
Carb and alcohol, mainly.

Even as a slim child I struggled with the heat, and could get heat stroke on a day when others were just taking their coats off.

Now I am in my 50s I tolerate heat better than ever before (alcohol, gluten free, and mainly zero carb) and I am still the size of a small aircraft carrier.
