Question on coconut oil

(dan) #1

Hey there, I just started out messing around with the keto research. I do a low carb already just not the high fats. But anyway Ill look around here and see what info I can find. I searched for this question but didnt really see anything. What type of coconut oil gos in the Keto coffee. I see liquid with no scent and flavor, I see liquid with flavor. Theres refined and unrefined. Some look like white solids.etc… So does it matter which I use? Thanx for any help : )

Hi Dan, you know I thought the same thing and just looked at the back. One thing I remembered from the podcast was stable oils are typically solid at room temp. I got the unrefined type and it is solid white. I scoop it out and blend welll because it will surface if you dont

A matter of taste. Your choice. Mine unrefined virgin I like a little coconut flavor

The typical way is a C8 MCT Oil, unflavored. Reason being the C8 chain packs the most energy for the buck. BUT you can really use anything you want. Just beware some cheaper MCT oils have a real weird taste to them. Take the “official” Bulletproof “Brain Octane” tastes like GARBAGE as far as I’m concerned, plus overpriced as hell.

I’ve lately ditched coffee for hot chocolate.

It powers my day for the most part.

Two-three tablespoons of grass fed butter, a tablespoon of unrefined coconut oil. Tablespoon of coco powder and a bunch of heavy cream. Couple drops of sucralose… (trying to ween myself from sweeteners, but damn is it good)

Maybe 10ish oz of hot water from an empty keurig.

It’s amazing to me. Total fat bomb.

Tried my first cup today and really liked it. Even got a great energy burst similar to a pre workout. Thanx for the help all!

You can use whatever tastes good. I use c8 mct oil, which is highly processed coconut oil. It’s flavorless, which is good for me. I also use butter, which has a taste I like. It’s up to you. There is a site called wellness mama which has some good basics on mct oil, if you’re interested

I really love everything about it and have up to 2 tbs a day (260 calories 28 grams of fat 0 carbs 0 protein). I do like it firm and have no prob eating it off the spoon haha Superfood.
