Psyllium husk 10 gm of carbs?

I am confused here. From what I have been reading it is better to count total carbs and not just net carbs. So I am curious what you guys count for carbs when using psyllium husk.

I am confused.

I, personally, count total carbs. If I were to go a bit over on psyllium husks I wouldn’t sweat it, nor would I let it become a habit. I keep my keto very strict, but that works well for me. Many do well on net carbs. I find that I feel better keeping my carbs super low. It also keeps me eating very ‘clean’ keto. There are many days I eat around 12-15 total carbs and I don’t skip my veggies.

Like I said, I wouldn’t sweat the psyllium husks much, but if you don’t feel good, have good energy, or stall for a long period, you may consider counting total.

Depends on the person, plenty do fine on my carbs. I always did when I was tracking, now I don’t even measure.

With psyllium husks though, irrespective of net / total carb counts, if you’re not used to them, go gently at first.

I’m a T2 diabetic and count net carbs and use Keto to treat my diabetes. It’s worked great. I’ve lost 180 pounds and no longer use insulin or metformin. I used to use nearly a vial per day of insulin.

The difficulty in doing net carbs is that some fiber still has digestible carbs and some sugar alcohols still have significant digestible carbs. And allulose is almost all indigestible carbs, but still shows up on the carbohydrates line of the nutritional label. So subtracting out things is not as simple as many would believe. That is, net carbs is NOT total carbs less fiber less sugar alcohols.

I wish the USA did nutritional labels like the most of the world and only listed digestible carbs on the carbohydrates line of the nutritional label, so no subtraction (guessing) would be necessary.
