Protein skip breakfast

(Mario) #1

Hello everyone ok so iam a total newbi to this keto life venture i am on my 3rd day of it im liking it but i am having a hard time with my protien staying level. So far i have been able to keep my fats at 75% or 200 grams fat carbs 5% or 13 grams and protiens 22% 138 grams should i skip breakfast altogether and just eat lunch and dinner ? Usually i have been having eggs and bacon lunch steak and broccoli dinner steak and asperagus or salmon and asperagus or hambuger patties and cheese im just confused on my protien up take seems i may be to high and the only way i see to keep it low is to skip breakfast and just go with a bulletproof coffee.also my mouth is very dry attimes bitter taste is that signs of starting ketosis? Thank you ahead of time for replies and for the patience with this newbi
Little bit about my stats

Your macros don’t seem bad to me. Protein level is a subjective thing somewhat. You didn’t post your body fat, but if you weigh 268 lbs and are active, you probably have 75%+ lean body mass. At even as low as 75%, that puts you at 201 lbs lean body mass. 138g of protein seems in-line with expectations for that.

Sorry i wish my BF was tht low but its about 35% and thanks for the reply yeah the high protien had me worried

I wouldn’t worry too much about it at this stage. It’s day 3, and I bet satiety will kick in anyway. I think you will settle at a protein amount that works well. Right now you are still transitioning to being keto adapted. Are you measuring ketones?

I well be getting my strips today and well do the first test to see were they are at but from what i read seem blood test is more precise

I think that level is fine. I struggled with it too at first. Keep with it through adaptation and then you can make tweaks based on your goals. I find if fasting and exercising the protein hasn’t really affected my ketones. But it is a very individual thing. I would just caution making too many changes early in the game because you need to give your body tome to adapt. Best of luck!
