I’ve been tracking my intake but I keep seeming to go over my protein number. How much protein is to much or what should my intake be?
Protein question!
Without knowing what your intake should be, we don’t know how much you may be going over by.
Have you calculated your macros for fat and protein yet?
In general, too much protein is better than too little, but a guess as to how much you would need depends on your body composition and activity level.
You can be under on the fat and carb macros. Just eat when you’re hungry.
Depends on your activity level, height, weight, goals etc.
As a rough starting point, if you are trying to lose weight and conserve but not especially gain muscle mass then about 1g protein per kg of lean body weight is a good starting place as a minimum number.
So, if you were 100kgs but 30% body fat, then you have 70kg lean body mass, so would need 70g of protein.
But that is pretty much a minimum to maintain muscle health and for most people going over that up to 90g or even more wouldn’t be a problem.
I’ve been using this app to track everything. It asked my weight and age maybe my height and gave me these numbers. Most of the time I’m under in my calories because I’m trying not to do go over protein and carbs. I almost always go at least 10 of in protein.
