Protein Protein Protein

(Steve S) #1

Hello again…

Thinking about making my days a bit easier through the use of protein shakes. Sometimes I need my protein, but I simply don’t feel like cooking.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

By the way, thanks for your earlier recommendations on the Stevia. I finally got it and am now enjoying carb free coffee. Not as tasty, but it gets the job done.

Thank you in advance…

Steve.

I suggest an unfllavored cold processed/undenatured whey protein concentrate from grass fed milk for health and flexibility of use.

It is easy to over do protein with concentrates. They aren’t as satiating as an equivalent number of grams protein from whole food sources such as fatty meats. I avoid this by mixing mine into fatty foods such as HWC, nut butters, avocado, etc. and only using as much as I need to hit my protein target which is often less than the recommended serving size.

Great advice, Todd. I appreciate that.

I remember early on, I don’t know if it was from one of Dr. Fung’s books or where, but the advice was don’t let your calories be empty calories. Better to eat something that’s going to fill up your stomach.

Thanks for the tips !! Greatly appreciated. Any specific product recommendations?

You mention shakes. Could you incorporate a cup of plain Greek yogurt? That’s about 20g of protein, and the bacteria cultures have been eating sugars so carbs may not be nearly as high as the label says.

Just a thought.

These are my RTD jam.

I might get back into them, as I let it slip by the wayside.

I sometimes use Isopure Zero Carb Protein Powder to up my proteins. Both as a drink with unsweetened coconut milk, and as a flour in baked goods.

Absolutely could do that, and do! Just looking for a full day’s protein in a glass, though. Thanks for the suggestion!
