Protein over fat

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #21

Good heavens, how much protein are you eating? You would have to eat 2.25 grams of protein for every gram of fat just to break even in terms of percentages of calories. At a gram of protein per gram of fat, you’d be getting 31% protein and 69% fat.

At the macros your app gave you, 96 g of fat is 864 calories, protein is 308 calories, add in 80 calories of carbs just for luck, and you get 1252 calories, of which 69% is fat, 25% is protein, and 6% is carbohydrate. Even if you ate only 68 grams of fat, you’d still be getting twice as much fat as protein.

Did you calculate for weight loss or for maintenance? On keto, you want the macros for maintenance.

Alternatively, you could just ignore the macros, keep carbohydrate under 20 g, and eat protein and fat to satiety.

If you are retired I would assume that you are a bit older. It probably took some time for you to gain the weight. If you are metabolically deranged (T2D, PCSO, etc.) it may take some time to reverse the derangement.

Look for non-scale victories and don’t obsess on weight.
