Processed lunch meat

The lunch meat I’m using is 0 carb and no sugar. Will this Holt my progress or is it just simply unhealthy for your heart?

Check the serving size. Manufactures get away with saying 0 carb if it’s less than.5 carbs per serving, so they will make the serving sizes minuscule to get it under that limit.

You can check this by scanning it into a tracker like MFP or Cronometer and exaggerating the number of servings. I use 10 servings. If all the sudden it has 5 carbs, you’ll know this is the case.

If not, sounds fine. Even if it does have some carbs, it’s still fine on occasion, but I wouldn’t rely on processed foods all the time no matter what.

I’m not sure what you are asking. Why would it be unhealthy for your heart if it has no sugar?

If you want to make sure there is really no sugar (worth checking, because U.S. law allows them to get away with things by manipulating the serving size), look at the list of ingredients. If you see sugar listed, especially if it is one of the first three ingredients, then don’t eat it.

Sugar is unhealthy for your heart. Protein and fat are both very good for your heart, especially fat.

If no carbs, you should have no issues with staying in ketosis.

But whether it’s “healthy” or not will depend on the type of lunch meat, what ingredients they used, and what methods they used (i.e. sliced off the whole cut of meat or reconstructed with by-products into a loaf). Even the way the animal was raised (i.e. corn/grain-fed or grass-fed beef) might make it more or less healthy.
