ProArgi9+

#1

I found this food supplement called ProArgi9+ which seems to contain many of the vitamins that I either take or want to take (all possibly beneficial for my CFS/ME). Many vitamins I come across are in forms which have added sweeteners or sugars so I avoid but I note this has changed to now being sweetened with stevia. Anyone know if this is actually ok on keto though? Anyone take this and have positive results? Photo of the ingredients list attached (hopefully)

Well the stevia is better than sugar. But what are your goals with this supplement? Did you show a deficiency in something if you don’t mind my asking?

Once I read Dr Nasha’s and Dr Cate’s books I stopped the vitamin supplements. The Cyanocobalamin form of B12 was the last straw for me as I get more than enough fish and eggs:

Thankyou for your response Dipper, I have been deficient vit d for over 5 years, despite taking supplements my numbers do not increase (still only in the 20’s!) and also low (but not deficient) b12 (many people with cfs/me are low in this and the vast majority are low vit d). D ribose is also shown by several studies to be helpful to those with CFs/ME. I have not yet tried as I personally have been trying to keep intake of medicines and supplements to a minimum since going keto about a year ago, mainly to see what effects keto alone would have. However, when you have struggled with this horrible illness for as long as I have you kind of want to grasp at straws to try anything that may help hence my interest in thisz. Plus it does not, from what i can make out, contain many of the nasties that other forms of these vitamins do - on that I am more than happy to be corrected and informed otherwise by others - that was kind of why I wanted to put this out there to others who may have more knowledge/experience/info on this topic.

How do you feel about some Sun and Steak? :sunglasses:

Or really just some eggs. The cholesterol in them, plus real sunlight, makes vitamin D, if you haven’t killed off the microbes in your skin with too much antimicrobial sanitizers.

I’m sorry, I don’t have any experience with CFS or ME so take my response for what it’s worth, but I will say to KC&KO!

I’ll have to look more into the different forms of B12 then. My doctor has mentioned the possibility of b12 injections if my levels drop any lower but am not sure what form that takes exactly. I will have to read up on this. Thankyou.

Haha, I did ask the Doc for a prescription holiday to the carribean but he politepy declined (apparently it is not part of NICE guidelines for some reason)
I’m definitely doing my bit on the red meat and eggs consumption though

My wife got her some B12 ampules of cyanocobalamin, and as I was an Army medic in another life I had given her a few doses when she asked.

Since she’s against this whole keto WOE, and any of the arguments for it, I just let it drop and haven’t pushed even though the results speak for themselves. I hadn’t shown her that passage from Dr Nasha’s book but I think she caught on herself that it wasn’t giving her that ‘shot in the arm’ energy she was hoping for. And she hasn’t asked for it in a few months, and I haven’t mentioned it.

Haha, love it, your wife and I both need to up our steak intake then  You never know, she may come round to thie WOE when you least expect it.

I really hope so. I had another thought though. The whole premise of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer is to protect the mitochondria, by giving them clean fuels and try to protect them from toxins. As they’re the cellular power plant and provide energy from food, it may be a good idea to not give them something that would poison them from both a CFS and Cancer perspective.

I hope someone else chimes in, but I can’t see that it’s wrong to avoid B12 supplements if you’re getting the natural form in meat and eggs.

From what I understand with ME the problem is bit about getting enough of these vitamins it is more about the body lacking the abiliry to actually absorb them hence why having B12 direct into the blood stream rather than taking it to be absorbed by the gut seems to work for many ME patients. There is not a clear understanding as to why we cannot absorb but from my years of vit D supplements doing nothing to increase my levels it seems my body is as such too. However, I think in saying/remembering his I have in fact just answerwd mynown question re the ProArgi haven’t I? It would be ingested and therefore still need to be absorbed by the gut. My thinking was that if it was in drink form rather than tablets that would make a difference- but thinking more clearly on it today, probably not :upside_down_face:
The whope mitrochondria, clean fuels thought is my premis for doing keto for his and tbh generally it is helping pain pevels and lifting the horrendous brain fog somewhat. I will keep on this in the hope that it helps the fatigue and vitamin deficiencies somewhere along the line too.

I think so too  Keep eating nutrient dense foods, liver if you can stomach it, and get some sun whenever you can.
KCKO!
