Precision Xtra vs KetoMojo - Which is more accurate?

(ks) #1

I got a Precision Xtra a few days ago and read around here most people prefer the KetoMojo due to the cheaper test strips. I just took my readings with both and they were quite different. Is there a consensus on which is more accurate?

Precision Xtra - bg=68, bk=2.7
KetoMojo - bg=97, bk=3.6

These don’t seem like slight differences to me, particularly the glucose reading. I have no way of knowing which reading is closer to correct. Thanks.

I compared the two and the Precision Xtra for ketones was about one-half the value for the Keto Mojo, most times. I did not use either of them for blood glucose, though. I used two different monitors for each and two different sets of strips for each.

For instance, here are some values. The second column to the right of the time is the Keto Mojo, the next column is the Precision Xtra:

That’s crazy. It’d be really fun to see the results from 2 Precision Xtra’s or two Keto Mojo’s. It might not be any better!

Really makes you question whether there is any point in even taking the readings. 68 vs. 97 for blood sugar seems absurd. I can get another cheaper bg only but who is to say if that will be any better. No way of really knowing if one is accurate and the other isn’t or if both are inaccurate…

or even compare them to a lab’s determination

It’s a little better (I have two Precision xtras and two keto Mojo’s, one of each for home and one for work). Still not great though.
