Oh, I hadn’t heard of one like that, thanks for the info!!
Powdered Magnesium Citrate, and other supplements
I’m not taking a supplement as Collagen is more recommended from all the things I’ve read. I think I get quite a bit of calcium in my food. I have both D and K as well, but my labs show I’m high on D so not taking that right now. K, seems I read something scarey about that, I’ll check it out again
I take Mag citrate as capsules or tablets. The citrate salt helps prevent Calcium oxalate kidney stones (the ones shaped like a sea urchin)… when you get one it will have you searchin’ for the phone to call an ambulance.
I don’t plan on getting any of those and but it is good to know yet another benefit of the Mag I take, thank you Franko
Hey folks.
I don’t wish to disagree with anyone, and I (not daily! But every other day) do take Mg citrate supplements. But that is only recently.
So, Franko…I’ll relate this story to you about kidney stones.
Back in year 2006 I suffered the severe pain of gout (toes, foot…ahhh!), although at the time I put it down to a work injury (I had an active job) because I had no idea what gout was.
It cleared up, then came back with vengeance. So I went to my GP. Yep. Gout.
And my family GP (primary care doctor) told me you’re the 3rd person in your family, and the only one who drinks wine or port. Genetic.
They asked me to stop eating red meat, red wine, hyper uric acid types of foods, etc.
I didn’t really. I love a good steak, and that Henry the 8th doesn’t apply to me, being a commoner:
Why did Henry the 8th get gout?
Gout has long been known as the “disease of kings” because of the lavish diet and alcohol consumption of the wealthy , like King Henry VIII, who suffered from it.27 Aug 2019
So I’ve been daily taking 1 tablet of 300mg Allopurinol since then…and I have been fine since.
Aparently it also prevents the probabilty of kidney stones occuring too, in that phenotype, which is a bonus.
My uncle, who also suffered from gout, suffered from kidney stones.
Yeah, I think K is one of the fat-soluble ones. If that’s correct, it means we shouldn’t overdo it. But D and K are essential to getting calcium where we want it and not anywhere else!
Aparently there is a delay in Vit D & K bio absorption uptake, someting like 8 hours. For the optimal metabolism to happen…
I would need somebody better than me to verify that, because I might have accidentally made that up. I read it online when i was checking when to supplement.
I don’t really know for sure…
Well, sorry…yes, we can figure out what is absorbed (and adsorpted btw).
And excreting.
Well you sure don’t have to be sorry I just thought it was an interesting question I’d kind of like to know how much of these capsules I’m actually absorbing I’ll have to read up on it thanks Coop Dogg
