Posting this to keep myself encouraged

(Bill Pratt) #1

Hey there everyone. Posted this last week but posting again to encourage others in same “place” I’m at. (9 weeks on and no “Scale” Victories for last several weeks. So I am focusing on the non scale victory. A side note… I LOVE THE KETOGENIC LIFESTYLE!!! So many benefits. But man, the scale gets in my head. (We weigh in once a week but I’m thinking I will stay off it for a couple months. Not sure?)
Here’s my 10 victories:

  1. I have lost 11 pounds total in 9 weeks (not “amazing” but not bad. No weight loss for last 5 weeks)
  2. I have lost 8 cm (3.15 inches) off waist👍… Awesome!
  3. I have gone from size 38 to 34👍
  4. Gas and bloating 100% gone. (not sure why… But awesome)
  5. Seborrheic dermatitis is gone! (Not sure why?) Dry itchy skin in beard and on side of nose and Eyebrows. Completely gone. (I’m not questioning it.)
  6. My shoes fit better? (Again, not sure why but I posted a thread about it a few weeks ago and some people had experienced same thing?)
  7. Energy lever is best it’s been since I was in the Marine Corps.
  8. I have not been “HUNGRY” like I always had been. (It took about 5 or 6 weeks for this to be noticed.)
  9. My sleep is better than it has ever been. (Especially the last 3 or 4 weeks.)
10.When I go to scratch my back I don’t brush against the big love handles. And I seem to have lost the “back fat” in the middle of my back, if there is such a thing?

Congratulations on your NSVs. After the initial weight loss many people stall for 6-9 weeks.

I personally felt that the energy alone was worth staying Keto.

Yep. Energy and mental clarity. And just an overall “feeling good”. Can’t really explain it but doing Keto for nothing more than that… Worth it!

Congratulations on the NSV’s, 3+ inches off the waist is awesome! Yes, back fat is a thing and it’s great to lose it.

I know some people weigh daily, for me I just can’t. The scale is not my friend and I’m in this for the long haul not the weight gain.

Keep up the good work!

Cool!!
As for #4 I betcha it’s because by going keto you by default cut out gluten and most grains. I was Gluten/grain free for a year before doing keto and my gut health did a 360 after like two days of it!!!

Good stuff. Sounds like you are definitely burning your own fat.

If you are taking any medication or pills they can affect water level retention. Then after a while there’s a sudden drop “the woosh effect”, you lose a heap.

Keep going. Just stay under 20g carbs and you’ll be right.

If it makes you feel any better I’ve lost 24lbs in 7.5 weeks and have lost very few inches :woman_shrugging:t3: Idk which is worse :joy::joy: I think to myself “man…I’ve lost almost 25 lbs and I can’t even buy new clothes yet”:roll_eyes:

I am going to put the scale away. For a couple months. Or at least stay off it. Decided this is a lifestyle change. Not an “event”. Final answer… Lol
