Hi guys just wanted to ask a quick question regarding toilet habits. Now I am a newbie just started my 3rd day and the famous flu has arrived, not to worried about that. But what I am worried about is the lack of No2s I am having which is zero. Is this part of carbo flu or something else. Ok somebody could’ve pointed out that i spelt flue wrong . FLUE is not flu lol. But any ways on the 5th day at 2am God said let there be light.
Pooping - 5 days
Your diet is no longer filled with useless fillers and an extreme amount of fiber. Your body will make use of most of what you are eating now, it may take a little while to become “regular” again. But remember, less crap in, less crap out! As long as you’re not feeling discomfort or pain, don’t worry about it. I don’t believe we are meant to “go” several times a day or even once a day like people think. As a matter of fact during a zero carb experiment, I became more regular with absolutely zero fiber!
Thank you for the quick reply, My mind is at rest. I dont have any discomfort so I guess I will just sit and wait for action. Will update you lol…
I absolutely agree about not worrying. Each of us is different, but the one thing I bet most of us find on keto is that the bowel movements become a whole lot easier if not frequent. One less thing to stress about.
When you transition from the SAD diet (standard American diet) to the keto WOE you are no longer full of crap
Constipation is possible, to avoid it increase your sodium intake. Salt everything, drink boullion or chicken broth daily. This will also alleviate keto flu symptoms such as fatigue and headaches.
This makes perfect sense, i guess that goes for a SUKD (standard UK diet) as well.
I’ve been eating lots of salt and my hands are puffy. I read on the board somewhere that I need to take potassium too. Haven’t poo’d in 9 days and I’m starting to feel like a blowfish
Does this seem okay for a newbie? Or anyone for that matter?
thx,
D
Water, water, water. Drink more water. Could solve all your problems. As @Aqua_chonk pointed out, magnesium will get things going, but watch out with that stuff. If you have any, in any form, stay bowl-local for a couple hours. I will not touch that again. Water did it for me.
If you’re not in pain you’re probably fine. If you’re concerned, along with the salt as @Brenda suggested eat more fat.
Thankyou so much for this. I was wondering how to bring it up. Im not uncomfortable or anything but i was always so regular and just had a thought that i hadnt been for a few days now. I was wondering if this was a problem at all but after reading everyones comments i kind of get it. Less in less out. I was eating so much fibre and produce it was cray cray.
What kind would you suggest? I am overwhelmed by all the different types there are and information on them.
Years of experimentation and rolls and rolls of toilet paper later, here’s my own personal bottom line, pun intended.
-
Oxide is the worst bang for your buck, absorption-wise, but the quickest route to the bathroom. Lots of unexpected toilet paper, emphasis on “unexpected.”
-
Combinations of magnesium forms in one tablet is more expensive but tends to reduce the time spent staring at the bathroom wall while grimacing.
-
Citrate in low dose tablets works best for me and my wallet at the moment. I can toss one back after things I know will inhibit my magnesium absorption, like alcohol, coffee, carbonated beverages, extensive exercise, or a stressful day.
Your mileage may vary. Good luck and save those toilet paper coupons.
When you DO go, pay attention to how it is. Is it painful? Is it bulky, solid, watery, etc? Write it down and start tracking - I wish I had done that from the beginning.
I’ve been really regular. I hope it doesn’t end! I love being regular.
I’m in my 3rd week of keto.
Did a little MOM and hoping it works!
