POLL: How sharp are you? (I mean your cheese)

(Roxanne) #21

Sighs…was in France the last two weeks of August…oooohhhhh the wonderful cheeses…so many many wonderful cheeses…

I didn’t think I liked sharp cheese, but then I tried a a red leaf Cheddar at Whole Foods recently, and I decided it was my favorite cheese ever. They describe it “super sharp,” and it’s aged six years.

My husband had to pull me away from emptying the sample bin.

Been there.

I had no idea that’s what the crunchy bits were. But yeah, I loved them!

Speaking of crunchy, salty bits - just found a pretty darn good cheddar at Superstore (of all places!). Canadians take note. Bradbury’s Scottish Extra Mature Cheddar. I haven’t had a coloured cheddar in years but this one is really good…

Had to revisit this thread. I’ve embraced Parmigiano-Reggiano as the Snack Cheese of Choice but sharp cheddar still dances with my scrambled eggs.

Which reminds me…

:sunglasses: ‘The King of Cheeses.’ Frequently, a world within itself as far as flavors.

Yeah, I read an in-depth article about how nutrient-dense it is and, when you couple that with the grass-fed-ness, the awesome taste, and how well it travels in a backpack, it becomes the Travel Cheese of Choice.

I like pecorino romano for the same reason. I love both those cheeses. I like salty, so pecorino is used often. But sometimes, only Parmigiano-Reggiano will do.

Great, now I have to go sample both at the cheese counter so I can tell them apart.

(thanks)

There’s somebody new in my life, his name is Old Croc Sharp Cheddar Spreadable Cheese.

I let him touch my steak, so it’s getting pretty serious.
