That’s the one!! Thanks Robin
POLL: How do you take your coffee?
I don’t drink coffee I take tea my dear
I like my toast done on one side
And you can hear it in my accent when I talk
I’m an Englishman in New York
See me walking down Fifth Avenue
A walking cane here at my side
I take it everywhere I walk
I’m an Englishman in New York
I’m an alien, I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
I’m an alien, I’m a legal alien
I’m an Englishman in New York
If “Manners maketh man” as someone said
Then he’s the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say
That’s the one thing I don’t have - an air fryer. I see a lot of recipes with them, though.
I tried adding some cinnamon sticks to my cold brew. I made the cold brew as I normally do (12 ounces coffee to 7 cups cold water), but I chopped up two cinnamon sticks and put those in it.
I like it.
I got the idea when we went into a spice store, and they had chunks of cinnamon. Like an idiot, I did not buy any of that. But then I heard a podcast about fasting, where the woman said she recommends 16:8 (for women, which is her expertise), and that adding cinnamon to coffee makes it taste better (no need for cream) and she said cinnamon has an insulin sensitizing effect. That last part does seem to be true, though some of the studies are with animals like rats and use a TON of cinnamon.
I belive the studies are done on Ceylon cinnamon, but much of what is sold in stores is actually cassia and not true cinnamon. If you are looking for flavor, cassia is fine. But for health benefits it may be worth tracking down some true cinnamon.
This is the stuff I was thinking of buying:
Says it’s cassia, but it’s hard to tell. Too many different names.
Oh I see, that’s not actually ceylon. I might get this instead:
I do have to say that it’s ridiculously time consuming researching this stuff, and you never know what you actually are getting from Amazon.
I work at a locally owned health food store. We order our bulk spices from Frontier and carry both cinnamons…sticks and powders. Do you have a store near you that you could check?
That’s a good idea. I do have one that I used to go to all the time, more of a grocery store. But it’s far from where I live now. I’ll have to check it out.
I remember, though, that I read about the True Ceylon Spices place as being one where the price went more toward the people who did the actual harvesting. I remember them saying that you had to have a lot of training to harvest, without killing the tree (from what I remember). Some of those people have been doing it a long time, and there aren’t many new people. So, if I can figure out this is the place, I will probably order from them, as I’d rather see more money go to the actual workers.
Edit: this is it
I didn’t know these things of cinnamon… I just like the spice and know that I need to be careful which to buy, some aren’t so tasty.
I tried cinnamon in coffee but it just makes it cinnamon tasting and I rarely want that from my coffee (it suits cakes better IMO). It obviously does nothing to the lack of cream I have problems with Eggs and butter works better for that - but now I have cream again and drank many coffees with cream
Nice. Tomorrow I will have whipped cream in my coffee too… But I won’t make a habit of this, I want it to be an occasional treat.
