Coffee Addicts’ Anthem

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we brewed since our grinder’s last cleaning,
Who’s broad scoop and bright beans through the perilous night,
O’er the counter we watched, praying that we’re not dreaming?

Mr. Coffee’s red glare, the scent bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our buzz would be there;
Oh, say, does that Starbucks green logo yet wave
O’er the land of ADD, the home of java slaves.

(Disclaimer: I do NOT patronize Starbucks. It rhymed, sue me.)

@Aqua_chonk Just to clarify, by “cocoa” I mean “cacao” (100% unsweetened).

Eager to see who’s awake enough to participate in your clever survey.

I tried to edit it to add cacao but apparently, you may not edit a poll after the first 5 minutes.

Reasonable protocol. Prevents voting irregularities and costly recounts.

Highly annoying for perfectionists, though. (twitch, twitch)

All day I’ve faced the barren waste
With out the taste of coffee… black, coffee.
Ole Dan and I, with throats burned dry,
and souls that cry
for coffee… plain, black coffee.

The nights are cool and I’m a fool.
Each star’s a cup of coffee . . . plain, black coffee.
And with the dawn I’ll wake and yawn
and carry on
to coffee . . . plain, black coffee.

The shadows sway and seem to say
Tonight we pray for coffee . . … plain, black coffee.
And way up there He’ll hear our prayer
and show us where
there’s coffee . . . plain, black coffee.

Just to add, I recently started using a percolator. I absolutely love the taste as compared to my old drip coffee maker.

(Robin) #9

I’ve been tempted, just for the memories. Now you’ve got me thinking about it again….

#10

You will not regret it. I truly like the flavor much better. It takes a little longer, but I think it is well worth it. I grind my coffee fresh every day also. I think it makes it even better.

The drip machines were sold on the idea that they produced better-tasting coffee than the percolators, but I’m not sure I can tell the difference.

Though a stove-top percolator is capable of burning the brew if you leave it on the heat too long. On the other hand, I have a little percolator designed to go over your campfire, and it does a great job. This percolator has a basket for the grounds, but old-style camp coffee pots did not, and you put in a couple of eggshells after brewing, to settle the grounds.

(Robin) #12

What one did you get?

(Allie) #13

I don’t, not now… was told I’m intolerant to coffee and various other things so spent the last few months cutting down, weaning off… and now not had any coffee for over a week

(bulkbiker) #14

Where’s the “triple shot Americano” option…?

#15

It is a West Bend 12-cup electric percolator. I think that we ordered it from Amazon.

(GINA ) #16

There was no option for collegen. I drink the first cup black, then I add collegen and SF ND creamer. I am using Nut Pods right now.

What is the old joke about coffee? “The first cup is medicinal. The rest are recreational.” That’s me.

(Robin) #17

My condolences.

Thanks, I’ve committed to give it a month to see if I get any benefit… eight days and counting.

(Rebecca ) #20

I also add a pinch of baking soda to cut the acidity.
