IMHO this is the best open water swim in the Great Lakes. Come on up if you can!

Fun to see this here. I live just down the lake from Bayfield in Washburn. My wife has done this race 3 times over the years.

Question. Is this a wet suit swim?

Mostly. The water can be quite cold so it’s considered wet suit mandatory unless you get permission to go without from the race organizers. I think they ask that swimmers who elect to go without have some prior experience swimming in the great lakes without a wetsuit.

Yeah I camp at the southern Washburn campgrounds night before the swim! Great little town you have there.
