Podcast on whether creatine is useful for depression (+ discussion of carnivores)

I thought this was interesting:

I listened on my podcast app (Pocket Casts). They discuss that creatine might be helpful for people with depression, particularly those taking drugs. They provide two studies about the latter, where creatine did help.

They also discussed how some people say that it was only when they went carnivore that they felt the best, and not when keto. They theorized that the large® amount of meat could raise creatine levels and provide some or all of the perceived benefits.

I’ve been taking creatine for at least a month now. I have found maybe some benefits in making my muscles bigger. However, no gains in strength, anything for my mind, ability to recover from exercise, at least that I can tell. That might be because my go-to meat is beef. I eat a lot of beef, and have been for years. I am, however, not carnivore, so I’m probably eating less creatine than a true carnivore would eat. I’m probably eating a lot more than normal folks, though.

Also, they are theorizing that there is something “different” between people with depression in terms of the brain’s usage of energy. Creatine might help with that. Since I’ve been keto for so long (in my 12th year), maybe I don’t have that brain chemistry/configuration?

Anyway, if you’re suffering from depression, a test of creatine is not too expensive. I bought a large container from Costco when it was on sale for around $20. Here’s a different one, 100 servings (about 100 days) for a little over $20:

Oddly, you can get 200 servings for $10 more.
