Carl, which butter do people use? I’m in UK, and I use lurpak spreadable. Should I be using the old slabs of butter?

(Allie) #22

Avoid all spreadable butters, they’re not real butter. Own brand butters here are fine but if you can afford Countrylife or Kerrygold they do taste better.

The cream in coffee will be causing an insulin response so you’re not technically fasting. You may want to try and eliminate it.

Thank you, I’m off to buy kerrygold.

Hiya… Yeo Valley do a butter that is spreadable…and it’s organic to boot!

(Allie) #25

Which is not real butter because it’s an awful blend made with sunflower oil. As I said before, avoid ALL spreadable butters as they are not real butter.

62.5% butter, yes sunflower oil, but I wouldn;t say this was ‘an awful blend’ not like cheap margarine!!

(Allie) #27

Sunflower oil is highly inflammatory which is why it’s recommended to avoid it, keto or not. Your choice if you want to ingest it but you may want to take the time to learn the facts about it before recommending anyone else use it.

Any type of seed oil and vegetable oils are not good for you. There is a bunch of science around here somewhere on that. You can use the search tool and it will. It will give you a bunch of info.

Don’t worry about eating too much fat. In your first two weeks you can’t eat too much. Later on once you have gotten past your carb withdrawal you will find that your body will naturally limit how much eat.

I have three pieces of advice 1) keep track of all carbs, don’t track anything else your first two weeks, the amount of fat you eat will freak you out. 2) and try to not worry if you go over on the carbs on accident, there are hidden carbs everywhere and sometimes when you look things up later the carb amount will surprise you. For example I didn’t realize scallops had carbs the first time I ate them so I went over that day. 3) read all ingredient labels, the things that have sugar will surprise you, like spice blends etc, also there are about 20-30 names for sugar, bone up on those names so you can recognize them on the labels, like dextrose etc.

So a third of it is processed seed oil, which should be avoided at all costs? AWESOME!

Dump butter on them. Smother them in avocado. Make some fatty mayo chicken salad. Put some cheese, sour cream and bacon on them. Lots of ways to have them not go to waste. And next time youll know to not buy the breast.

This topic made me look it up since I had just bought Sesame Oil. I’m loving it for flavor and glad to see it’s on the OK list.
