Pizza question

(Scott) #1

Just got an email there is a pizza party for my daughters hockey team in the backyard tomorrow . How many carb would be on one slice. It I just ate the cheese pepperoni and I’m sure there would be sauce underneath . Not my own I make her so don’t know what type of ingredients will
Be on there

Nobody can answer that. Every dough, every sauce, every amount of cheese will vary greatly. Eat the Pizza, enjoy yourself, then back to the plan it is. Don’t overthink living life.

(Tracy) #3

This is just me, but I pass on food when I’m at parties.

(Scott) #4

This is first time , it’s a get to know the team . I don’t drink and if I don’t eat anything will
Be self conscious ( I know silly ) but after a month or so it will
Be better . I was guessing except for the sauce around 5-10 carbs . Most pizza places use there on cheese unless ( chain)

how long keto and what are your goals…and goals I mean…eat the ‘made for ya’ stuff out there with is almost impossible to ‘count’ on any level cause you just don’t know size, ingredients of sauce, crust, even the cheese literally, so it is a total crapshoot on that.

Then ya got that decision of ‘do I eat that’ or ‘not’ and I WOULD not eat that. But that is me cause I do not have ‘that feeling I must partake’ in food in social occasions and that is why I ask how long are you on plan? Cause longer we go we realize we truly do not want certain foods and social things, and holidays and vacations and more to control us to the level of 'should I eat this ‘who knows what’ or just eat before I go and say, nah, just off, dont wanna eat that cause I just don’t want that now and of course you are fine doing just that.

You have to put you first here. The excuses to eat whatever are boundless out there thru a team get together for the kids, to your mother in laws famous whatever food ‘one must eat’ cause how dare we say no, to just choosing what we want to eat on any given ‘different moment’

I say you are hitting that wall here. You have to make the right decision on if you want to ‘do you and what you desire in your personal food decisions as you need’ or do you ‘just go with the flow’ and sometimes that ‘go with the flow’ is the easiest excuse to kill ya.

NOW THIS IS just some thoughts HAHA It is not judging but when earlier on plan, these things matter how we can grab strength and go forward cause food is ALL around us at all times and has ‘meanings’ to them but what will be your path.

I know my kid never worried if I went wherever with her and didnt touch the food, she wanted me there, all happy and cheery and all, but what I ate never mattered.

again just some thoughts~! Don’t enjoy it and give into ‘it all’ if it is not what you truly desire. My time when I changed into extreme lc into zc lifestyle was to keep on plan no matter what and I made those hard choices and in the end, I wouldn’t change anything looking back on food I did not eat cause it wasn’t in my personal choice.

So again, I am giving out my personal thoughts LOL and if anything suits ya cool, if not you do you as you should!!! This is all about you and what you will allow and won’t thru your personal goals, so be true to you and what you desire in your health changes. Heck that is all any of us should do!

I haven’t eaten out since covid at restaurant . I have had McDonald’s twice and pizza twice since March . And been on ketonforn16 days. I am trying to loose weight and stay on this for life .sometimes I life I have some times when I can’t be perfect , and I asked a question about one slice just toppings . I usually cook home food not processed but again lid happens. I appreciate your response .

Your mileage will vary with what you want to do. Personally, if it was me, I would try to eat beforehand so I was full - then there’s no need to eat at the gathering.

I think there’s nothing worse than being hungry and trying to eat non-keto food; you might feel more self conscious explaining why you’re not eating the base and only the toppings.

Nobody will notice if you have a drink and not eat. If anyone asks you why you’re not eating, just say, “Oh, yeah, I’ll get some in a minute, thanks!” - and carry on talking.

After a while, if someone asks again, just say, “Huh, it’s weird, I must’ve had a big breakfast - I’m not that hungry today. I’ll get another drink though, does anyone else want one?”

But I doubt anyone will say anything - and if you give those responses, nobody will bat an eyelid.

That’s what I’d do, anyway.

(Will knit for bacon. ) #8

Without knowing the exact ingredients you can’t really get an exact number, but I’m pretty confident stating that the toppings, cheese, and schmear of sauce on one slice of pizza, without the crust, will have fewer than 20 grams of carbs. I’m also pretty confident that I couldn’t stop there, because I love me some pizza. And when I eat it, I go whole hog, and then fast the next day while cursing my aching joints. Your mileage may vary.

(Scott) #9

Thanks I will try it s just I’m in a pattern on no food till noon and have to leave at 11 am for practice and party at 2. So will bring a snack of eggs and cheese or eat at 10:45

#10

Just say you’re gluten sensitive if anyone offers a slice.

(UsedToBeT2D) #11

I will eat the toppings and throw away the crust/dough in this situation. There is probably sugar in the sauce, but not enough to worry in a couple of slices. Just don’t make it a staple of your diet.

(Scott) #12

I wouldn’t lie about gluten will say keto . Thanks though

#13

Are you sure you aren’t gluten sensitive without knowing?

(Scott) #14

Not, never had any problems with any breads or wheat

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #15

You can always eat the cheese and toppings and leave the crust. If anyone asks, simply use the old gluten-intolerance excuse.

For me, the risk of eating a pizza crust is not from the carbs in the crust, but the risk of triggering a carb binge that I might not come back from. So far, I’ve been able to overdo the carbs a couple of times and not have to run out to Dunkin’ Donuts afterwards, but you never know. These days, fortunately, glazed doughnuts have lost their hole over me, but those little loaves of yeast bread that the pizza parlour puts in with your order? Man, oh man!

The problem with addictive thinking is that it never feels like addictive thinking from the inside. I have known alcoholics whose return to full-blown alcoholism was triggered by their drinking a single alcohol-free beer.

At the party there was another mom on keto and it was her house hosting so she ordered pizza from a chain ( pizza pizza) and she ordered one small keto pizza ( pepperoni ) she said it was 2.9 carbs per slice . Was small and the crust was pretty flimsy but was eatable . She said it’s expensive if your in Canada and desperate . A small keto pepperoni with cheese was like $17.

(UsedToBeT2D) #17

Bring your own Fathead pizza.

#18

What are you doing on keto then?

I wish I could eat carbs and maintain awareness like everyone else.

#19

Just because one has no problem with breads specifically, they may have problems with eating much carbs all the time… Probably most of us do keto because we have some kind of problems with carbs. Like, they make us hungry. Or we are sure very low-carb is the healthiest option for us. We don’t need to get seriously unwell when eating carbs for that.

Keto allows gluten anyway, one may eat a pretty big amount of it when using pure gluten. Many ketoers eat gluten especially the ones who make keto bread with yeast and probably vegans too but I have little idea about vegan ketoers, they are a bit weird to me

You mean like overeating or physical problems? You don’t really know if you have physical problems until you try not eating wheat…then retry eating it.
