Piss

(Bobby Smock) #1

Hello Everyone!

I’m new here, and I have a question about anyone’s experience with PISS (post induction stall syndrome). Did you experience it in week 2 or 3, and when did it go away? I did a month of Keto before, and lost weight every week, but this time I’m stalled on week 2. I know to KCKO, but I’m just curious what others have experienced and any tips you might have.

This has probably been asked before, so I apologize.

Thank you!

6 weeks keto, haven’t lost since water weight, advice?

Welcome Bobby!

When I restarted keto in early May, it was my third time on it, this is the first time it feels like a “forever” thing (a true lifestyle change). I have had the experience also that the weight didn’t melt off for quite as long this time around. I’m not entirely sure why, but each of the two times I came back to it (with a break of several months in between), the weight loss slowed way down earlier than the previous time. That said, although the weight has been coming off in fits and starts, it’s still continuing. I have gained a little weight some weeks but overall the trend is still downward so I just KCKO. I think our metabolic starting points are just different from when we did keto before.

I think as far as how long any stall goes on for (not just PISS but stalls that can happen farther down the road) seems to be highly individual, not only based on what you’re eating but on things like stress, menstrual cycles (if you’re female) and many various other factors. So it’s impossible to predict.

In my experience:
Note: I started out with 80 lb to lose
Week 1-2: massive (10 lb) weight loss and extreme exhaustion
Week 3-5: maybe 5 lb weight loss but my energy and general mojo returned. During this time I kept on with my keto WOE because by week 6 I was fat adapted.
Week 6-8: No weight loss but I maintained my fats and began Intermittent fasting 16:8.
Week 8: I started some 40 hour fast and the weight started coming off.

I believe that maintaining my calories and fats week 3-8 kept my BMR high so that longer fasting was a natural progression.

Thank you! I have about 100 lbs to lose myself :/.

I’m going to just keto on and I am sure it will start back soon, I tend to overthink things haha. I need to meal prep going forward because at my size (304 lbs) I really need to try to eat around 1800-2000 but it’s been difficult and I know that isn’t helping me switch to burning fats. Some days I’ve eaten 1300 and just couldn’t eat anymore (which is a nice change), and I need to prep some 500-600 calorie meals to have 3x a day then a protein shake for a snack.

Thanks for sharing!

Try to work toward getting all your calories in your meals and avoid snacking. The fewer times your insulin spikes, the more time your body spends in fat burning mode.

I stalled from Week 3 - Week 10.
I waited until I became fat adapted and then started fasting and that broke my stall.

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was… they’ve been eating asparagus, haven’t they? LOL!!

Hey Ava!

Do you mean you did keto to become fat adapted and just watched your net carbs, then did intermittent fasting? Or a 24 hour fast? I typically do intermittent fasting because I’m not a huge breakfast eater, but I think my calories have been an issue as well (too low). I am going to be better this week but I’m not sure if that’s hurt me even more.

Thanks!

I ate <20g of carbs per day, waited until I became fat adapted at week 6 and THEN started experimenting with fasting. I was doing intermittant fasting by eating two meals a day until roughly week 10. Since week 10 I have completed multiple 24,36,42 hour fasts. I’m now on week 13.
