I found recently I LOVE pili nuts, but itās like loving champagne on a beer budget. Hence, my search for a cheaper pili nut.
The first ones I ever tried. Outrageously good; outrageously expensive:

Here is what I tried today. They were skin-on, so it was an experiement to see if I could find a cheaper source. They are raw with skins on. 6oz for $8.58:

My experiment was a success, and although a little time consuming, easy.
- Bring a pan of water to a boil.
- Dump in the pili nuts.
- Boil for about 3 or 4 minutes, or until you see the skins loosening.
- Set colander/strainer in sink; dump in the blanched nuts.
- Run a little cool water over them, then pinch off the skins; the nuts slip right out.
- I put them on some paper towel to soaks up the water.
- Then put them in a bowl; drizzled a little melted coconut oil over; sprinkled on Himalayan Pink Salt and stirred.
Easy peasy. Yum!
