I would definitely eat more veg, and the nice root veggies and squashes, plus lovely multi grain homemade brown bread toast and … scones jam and cream!
Perfect Health - Would You Still Follow Keto/Carnivore Diet
Are you from Cornwall by any chance … yeah, actually they sound good
Melted cheese on toast, steak & chips (fries) maybe with baked beans & mushrooms, roast dinners, all types of fast food, all types of fruit and veg, all types of dessert…fk me, the only thing I wouldn’t eat is marzipan.
I hate that muck. Strange, because I do like almonds.
Cor Chips and roast dinners … keep the fruit and marzipan. disgusting
I’d probably stick with eating delicious garbage, I doubt very few people would be honest with themselves saying otherwise, unless they grew up eating keto or something.
Noooooo velvet don’t be seduced by the devils marzipan it’ll lead to the fondant icing!
then you’ll be lost to us
You have a nice almond or two
I hate icing! Always have, wayyy to sweet. Ugh. I had marzipan as a kid. A Marzipan pig was what we always got on new years, the pig symbolizing good luck.
I haven’t had any marzipan in decades. But I remember it fondly, and I don’t remember it being all that sweet at all.
I’d love to be eating pasta, croissants, bread, etc. Not really into a lot of the snacks (tortilla chips, pretzels, potato chips), mainly because I never ate those anyway. Do like tortilla chips with meat, salsa, cheese, sour cream, though.
I remember being able to eat almost a (dry) pound of pasta in one sitting, and would still be hungry later. Of course, that was with low fat red sauce.
And ice cream…unless you’re lactose intolerant, who doesn’t like ice cream?
And I live basically in a pizza paradise, with great pizza pretty much everywhere. Electric, coal-fired, wood-fired, you name it, we’ve got it.
Too bad wheat and I don’t get along.
I feel your pain mate!
Pizza, ice cream! lush.
I’m going to try to get a keto way of ice cream. (Maybe as simple as freezing cream and berries/ natural unsweetened yoghurt?)
I don’t know. But with these high temps I could be doing with an ice lollie or whatever.
Hopefully low carb.
If you have an ice cream maker, there are some really good ice cream recipes around. One I got was from this board.
The trick will be to find a sweetener, or multiple ones, that don’t affect you. I think I used 3 different sweeteners last time, and that helped.
And the sweetener also helps keep the ice cream soft, so experimentation might be necessary. I seem to remember that allulose helped keep the ice cream from getting too hard.
Having said all that, I can’t remember the last time I made ice cream. It’s on my list of things to do, though, because my kids love ice cream (who doesn’t?), and this should be better than real ice cream, at least from a blood sugar/hunger perspective.
If I was to try the ice cream maker…(btw, I know nothing about such a device; I’m just trying to get my head around a bread maker.), I would try to not use sweeteners, but maybe berries of a keto kind?
Is that possible? I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t perfect Ice cream. And once you lose a sweet tooth things get easier.
My home made Chocolate seems sweet to me but its actually disgusting to everyone else … suits me lol
No, not from Cornwall but scones and cream have always been a fave of mine, especially with clotted cream…from Cornwall. Heaven
You could try that. I tend to think that fruit doesn’t belong in ice cream (or chocolate) though.
The other thing is that without a sugar, the ice cream will be really hard. You could add vodka or other alcohol to it, which supposedly helps. But it could be a rock when it comes out of the freezer.
I should try that with any recipe with less than perfect results …. Note to self, try adding vodka
It would not necessarily be a diet as such, but rather I would eat ab libitum - what ever when ever.
Honestly,
I would remove processed foods, and do some level of fasting.
But if I had perfect health… ONE of those would likely already be true!
An Ex-Military Bulgarian I know tells the story of his crew having slaughtered a lamb, and were cooking it up… They had been joined by a small group of Russian Special Forces. Those guys were eating their dried fish rations… So he offered them some of the lamb… He said he will never forget the answer: “While I am sure it tastes wonderful, and much better than this. If I eat this, I know exactly how I will feel in the morning. How well I will sleep tonight. And if I get into trouble, how long I can go without food, and without going to the bathroom… All of which will keep me alive in tough times… Besides, for the next few days, my rations will not taste as well… So I will pass…”
They all passed. He said when he woke up the next morning he realized that these guys were like machines… And he respected them even more…
I have the same question, do you mean I am genetically blessed or that I have done keto etc to the point where I have regained my health and a BMI of 20? When I was younger I used to believe that if I dieted I would lose all the unwanted weight and get to X weight and be able to maintain it because I was thin and healthy (which do not necessarily follow each other). I had visions of myself running in the fields with my hair blowing in the breeze for fun because I am so thin and healthy. Note I do not live near fields, and my hair is not long enough to fan out behind me when I run and I really really hate running, no matter what my weight. I did not even like it as a thin teenager!
Turns out I could not be more wrong, your body wants homeostasis and wants to return to your old weight, the more you deviate and lose, the harder, not the easier it becomes! So if it was from a magical keto diet I would have to continue with keto or regain.
If I was genetically blessed, then I would obviously not be me, but I probably would be very happy eating whatever I wanted including pizza and pies and donuts (love my grain based carbs, meat, not so much but fine as part of a meal) and I would not know any better since I would never have had to research diet or health. Its the same as my never researching Athlete’s foot or eczema, not something I ever had so I have no idea what to do. This would be a mistake because I do think longevity is tied to diet although it is not a perfect correlation.
I do now think, after being low carb for many years that it would be nice to be able to handle a Mediterranean diet. Have some whole grain rice, bulgar, salad (which I can handle now, but honestly not something I love either making or even eating, again this is my fantasy!) along with some animal protein, maybe a pizza on whole wheat, some chickpeas. However, part of the issue is that it is so much easier to control my appetite (really not think about food) while doing low carb, the minute I started eating a lot of carbs I will be constantly hungry, regardless of my weight or health
I disliked marzipan as a kid. I kind of like it now but I can live without it just fine. It’s not carnivore so I don’t eat it normally but on a keto day it’s quite fine. I make my own, of course, I dislike added sugar and excessive sweetness.
I often make ice cream but I don’t desire it. And yes, mine gets hard but if I eat it at the right time, it’s not hard yet I do put in some alcohol (rum) but too little to have an effect besides making it more flavorful and alcoholic. But it’s no problem.
If I could handle high level sweetness, I could just use banana for softness. Banana is kind of creamy even when frozen, it’s amazing. And very very flavorful but so very sweet that I can’t put much into my ice cream anymore. It’s fine, I usually make carnivore ice cream anyway (if we aren’t too strict and allow spices).
My old keto ice cream had banana. Not much and it got hard but it was nice and dairy free. I swapped the banana to whipped cream since. Traditional ice cream is super weird, watery to me since ages. Never would buy any. (I still taste it at a relative out of curiosity but it’s inferior and doesn’t even feel good. I hope I will stop already. Mine is loads better and I don’t want that either. Still nice to have it sometimes but I make it to use up cream or yolks.)
IDK if I wrote before that health is one thing. Convenience is another. And it’s not convenient for me to eat carbs and mess with my satiation and desires and whatnot. I like to be chill about eating. And eat the best things possible. I think I do the best I can now. Close to carnivore but not quite. I have 4-5 fruit seasons in my garden at the moment and the 6th is near. Tasting is enough for me and picking a bowful without eating any tastes freedom. Eating 1-10g tastes freedom too though, sometimes I have that. And sometimes I eat more because I have it and I don’t want to miss it. I still don’t desire to eat much but I do enjoy it But wouldn’t enjoy it more often.
When my inner hedonist self will be done with me, my hedonism will be high level and a work of art
