Exactly how about eat meat, get more

#62

you DID NOT buckle at all. Drop ALL this thinking of if you eat your meat you are doing something wrong or negative or you are buckling or you are not supposed to be doing it…YOU EAT all you need at all times, and never for one second put any negativity on eating your meat at all.

Terms like buckling are out of your carnivore life forever my friend

Yes. Human nature too is we want what we can’t have the minute we put ā€˜any restrictions’ on ourselves, like taking the all beef/water challenge  Your mind is craving anything…anything ā€˜extra’ and nice thing is you are OK…you eat up that steak and if you need to, you eat up another steak LOL

and if you need some beef short ribs you put a bunch in a crockpot and let them simmer away and omg so good. you need more you put a big old chuck roast into the crockpot and have that. you fry up alot of cooked beef strips and have them handy!!!

You are in a real challenge. Wild isn’t it? I love your resolve and commitment and you are NOW walking into what a real zero carb experience is and will see how you do on it!

I am also absolutely happy as a clam you did eat FB! Many would ā€˜not buckle’ when it is the polar opposite. Hungry you eat and never give it a second thought ever!! You did the right thing for sure, eat when needed, all the time, any time. Key to starting zero carb on a note from being nourished, to fueling for repair/healing internally etc.

I loved your post!!

I agree a gazillion percent E!

(Elizabeth ) #64

The challenge you’ve given yourself is to eat beef and drink water. That’s it. Whether that’s eight times a day or twice a day. Sounds like a success to me

#65

Right on E! FB is going for it and doing very well.
I am so proud of him going all in and trying it!

Darn right a successful day!

I am on day three of my Diet Coke sobriety. I actually gave it up a few months ago and went through caffeine withdrawal at that time. No withdrawal this time around. I guess I hadn’t fallen off the wagon long enough to get re-addicted.

I added more seafood to my diet this week. Salmon, shrimp, and scallops. The only problem is seafood is high in histamine and it’s starting to show, so I’m going to back off a little.

I’m glad everyone is doing well for the start of the challenge. We got this!!!

#67

VERY COOL and you just keep going…and just remember what that actually is ya know…what ā€˜diet coke’ is truly all about and IS IT FOOD? ya know in that when we desire and addict what is the truth of what that stuff we want so darn bad truly is all about   I had to face it with Caffeine free Diet Pepsi and to this day, I say leaving that crap behind was the best darn day of my life.

my most useless foods in the world-----any soda and cereal. omg cause when we truly think of this stuff in its ā€˜horrible’ glory right?

Yes, seafood you might see if effecting you and if you want it a bit, cut back that portion size and enjoy if you can, but make the meats that works best for you the main focus, make the seafood into a ā€˜condiment’ type thinking…You are doing real good VE!!!

The smoked pork chuck is awesome. Nothing like chuck from the same shop, well they have very many kinds of pigs, there are extremely huge differences! The sausages are very different too despite they use the same recipe (a tad more spicy paprika for the ā€œspicyā€ ones. I don’t really feel it’s spicy, I don’t know why they do this to Hungarians. I don’t even like spicy stuff, just subtly spicy ones… and I don’t even feel ā€œspicy sausagesā€ spicy at all).
I never had chuck like this. It reminds me of a ham - just marbled with fat  Perfectness. I need to keep myself from eating more (it’s not very hard, I know too much salt isn’t nice for me). I ate some and I got very satiated and satisfied. I missed this feeling. Sure, my high-calorie yesterday might have added to the effect but I am more hopeful now. I started to have difficulties but I didn’t fall much

I couldn’t get past 48hrs without coffee. So, your effort is awesome!.

Let’s just say de-caf coffee is a prank. I tried some this morning. It was disgusting. But it was at the cafe that makes bad coffee. That could be a factor.

Or, have my taste receptors changed?

No. I’m having good coffee now and all is good. It tastes good.

For a moment there, I thought the carnivore WOE was about to reveal to me the toxic flavours of a roasted plant bean.

Blood glucose 1 hour after eating 4 eggs scrambled with salt = 5.8mmol/L / 104 (it’s a dirty reading). Blood ketones 0.6mmol/L

Strict elimination carnivore challenge day #4. FAIL 3 meal day. It’s Sunday.

Look, I felt energised and worked around the ā€˜farm’. I dug a swale with a shovel and moved some extra soil in a wheelbarrow up a steep slope. I planted some grape vines and tended the food forest with some hand watering. Walked the boundary with the dog checking seedling trees and looking at orchids (we get fairy orchids on the property in spring). I was out in the sunshine being physically active.

At about 2;30pm I felt a bit hungry, so I had another 4 eggs cooked in butter with some salt. Psychologically the voice was saying, ā€œStrict carnivore. One meal a day.ā€ But another voice, that I imagine sounds a bit like Fangsy, was saying, *ā€œIf you are hungry, eat. Eat until you are not hungry. It is OK to eat today.ā€*So, now I hear voices.

We’ve got local spring meadow butter at the moment, the most nutrient rich seasonal dairy.

I worked on the computer. Giving my brain a work out.

Then my wife cooked dinner. I had an Atlantic salmon fillet with the skin on, haloumi cheese (2 small rectangles pan fried), a sniff and a small taste of (her) red wine, a cabernet - it was intense, a blackberry bouquet. But that meal made me feel hungry. Maybe I am responding to the first few days of restriction? I ate a 300g scotch fillet steak cooked in a slab of that butter on the woodfire stove. Now I feel very satiated. Incredibly so. Mentally and physically.

It’s 10pm. 2 hours after dinner. I have to work on my sleep, so I will go to bed.
Blood glucose 2hrs after eating = 4.8 mmol/L (86mg/dl); blood ketones 0.9mmol/L
Try again tomorrow for day #5 of the challenge.

I can’t tell apart coffee with and without coffein… To me, they feel the same.

I still drink one right now, I made tea but it can’t replace it. I definitely need something warm and have no other ideas. Oh well. I run out of cream at least
Weak black coffee, definitely not tasty. But it has some kind of role. I don’t know what. It doesn’t change me.

#71

glad you found a great cut of meat you enjoy so much!

:crazy_face::crazy_face::scream:
people who love their coffee, absolutely  their coffee!
I never liked coffee. Younger I tried to drink it at work with all the other people cause it was the morning thing to do…everyone went to get coffee and chat and mill around…I would sip some and :face_vomiting:. Just never got into it.

you know there was one zero carber who made what she called ā€˜silver tea’…it was just plain hot water. She sipped it cause she wanted something hot.

I dropped tea. I would sip some tea cause I wanted something hot to sip also. But one day I drank some tea and I got the weirdest mouth numbing type thing. Bleck! I dropped tea so fast. Now water is my life. I dropped hot drinks, never looked back. I didn’t need a replacement ya know for hot cocoa or any hot drink. I wake up and I get a big old bottle of water and start my day.

I like to think back ya know. I always like to go back very early as in there were no hot drinks or coffee or diet soda for mankind. Everything drank plain old water and I just seemed now to have fallen right in line with that. Hubby is like I need to make coffee and then others are like, lets go get a drink, usually a soda type thing or a sweet tea etc…and I think, those 2 things are gone from my life. Hot drinks, gone. Anything other than water gone.

of course when I do party up a bit the booze comes into play but other than those few times, yea water is my life. But I will always remember that zc person who drank ā€˜silver tea’…plain old hot water to sip on and it satisfied that need for a warm drink. huh.

#72

had me a steak, Tbone yesterday. I gnawed that bone like a pro!
1/2 lb monster burger
4 slices salami
1 small chicken breast

ZC rocking along well for me.

My knee I twisted is getting a bit better. I think I will try a shorter type hike today. No mountain trails, just hit a scenic walking path near my house…only a 3 mile trail…but easy walking. Will test out the knee. I hope I am good to go and start some real hiking up the side of mountains  We shall see!

Rock out OXtoberFest!

What’s funny is that I can tell the difference (In a blind taste test) between Diet Coke and caffeine-free Diet Coke. The regular DC tastes better.

#74

me too. I can tell caffeine free diet pepsi vs. regular diet pepsi in a flash.

we sad ain’t we LOL

#75

Alvaro drinks warm water. I can’t. I only like cold or lukewarm water…
Sometimes I feel I need something warm as my throat is a tad sensitive, well I don’t sing in a choir since Covid… But I will try to ignore such feelings. I like water so I really don’t get it fully…
And I am sure I would be just fine with water. But I need to break these habits first. Well I have an insane amount of Earl Gray… And I have no problem with my tea drinking. I need to stop drinking coffee, well I would be fine with drinking way less. It doesn’t feel ideal or natural but my very mild displeasure isn’t enough to stop. We will see, lack of cream should help in the next week.

I am so lazy now. After a nice walk (there was a rainstorm at night but when I woke up, it was very bright sunshine and perfect temperature) and a nice meal, time of the day is when we aren’t so active, some natural rhythm… Maybe I will have a little nap. Fortunately I got back my ability to eat a properly big, satiating meal. I don’t know why I have a rollercoaster, sometimes I can’t eat much at once, sometimes I am super hungry, the two at the same time is the worst… And it’s just perfect sometimes. Now I have one of my better days

I never even drank diet pepsi/coke in my life but I am sure I am taste-blind to caffeine. I can imagine I couldn’t even tell apart coke and pepsi and some cheap imitation from a little store (maybe I could tell which is coke as I know that best  but I am not sure as all would be a disgustingly sweet abomination). But you can’t hide sugar or certain sweeteners from me… I feel them in super tiny amounts.

Do diet sodas keep our sweetness need high or the lack of sugar is enough to feel things more and more sweet I wonder? My family members’ experiences hint at the latter, even eating sugar couldn’t help if it happened rarely and the one in question put the actually desired amount into the food/drink.
I always find it curious that we 3, on very different woe, eating a very different amount of natural sugar feels things similarly sweet. I keep changing while they stopped but before carni, we were at the same level (we all ate sweets, though).
I am curious what will happen to me in November
This October is just training in the beginning. I actually tell myself when I don’t understand certain restrictions when I will break them later anyway that it’s valuable training. To endure turbulent thoughts and feelings when I so totally don’t need anything else, it’s just my rebellious self, a random idea or something similar. Coffee is similar. I don’t really enjoy it, I don’t need it, my body very subtly prefers not drinking it. So why? Breaking the habit is the right thing but it causes a tiny discomfort. I am bad with that. But I can train instead of following every whim and habit in the first second, without reluctance (it’s not like I get a reward). I can do it better. I give in when things actually get hard

(Edith) #76

I did not find that the artificial sweetener in Diet Coke gave me a craving for more sweets. I found it actually helped me intermittent fast a little longer if I drank some. Although, that could have been because of the caffeine.

(Edith) #77

Yes! @Fangs would have definitely told you that. @Elizedge would have, too.

@SecondBreakfast, I made the egg pudding. It is quite tasty. I melted a little bacon grease on top with some salt. Yum, yum. :yum:

#78

hey all us zc’ers on here know to eat when hungry LOL I don’t think in truth none of us are missing the zc concepts of what it takes  I feel everyone here is getting a great command of what carnivore is all about   From what I am seeing on the thread, everyone is doing stellar truly!
One of the perks of this plan, we track nothing at all, we eat as much as we truly need at all times and we just live life without ā€˜being on a diet plan we have to watch and interact’…boy I hated that part of any of it. Now I just eat and geez, what a concept huh? Eat, heal, get healthy…sounds good to me!

#79

How can I find the egg pudding recipe? I may try to do it without one, of course… But still.

I made sponge cake today (and other cake but that wasn’t mine). Nice with smoked pork… Even I can’t use boiled eggs as bread all the time. And the pork alone is nice but still too salty and it disappears too quickly already…

sigh I ate 3 times again. I got hungry, I am probably still a bit weak to that (I felt no need to eat, just hunger and that doesn’t matter but I still don’t like the feeling) but I tracked so I knew about my tiny intake as well and heaven forbid I would undereat…
And I had sponge cake (very similar to my pancake just with whipped egg whites and I use the oven) and pork chuck… Oh well. Apart from ruining my poor IF again (it’s never good, IF feels best but it’s not so clear when my body is confused. yeah, it will be nice to stay on track for longer times in the future) it was a nice day eating wise. Maybe I needed to survive the first 3 to arrive here where satiation comes easily. Or it was the pork. Who knows? I had tiny hunger two times today. And freshly cooked smoked pork hocks, I accidentally ate a bit so I made a smallish complete meal of it. 3 meals are fine on my nice, easily satiated days but my eating window became horribly big. It never feels quite right. But I am sure it’s temporal. So things will fall into place later.
