Overweight... just overweight, thank you!

As of today I am no longer “obese” according to the (fucking worthless) BMI charts. I guess my insurance will be happy… until I start weight training.

Awesome. I remember moving through those categories too. Morbidly obese to obese. Obese to overweight. Next stop normal. Well done you. xxx

Congrats!! I got there last week. It is a great feeling isn’t it. Keep eating keto/LCHF and build some muscles, that should keep you in the normal range.

welcome to the wonderful world of overweight… I just got here too…

I’ve gone from 56 to 46 BMI…

If losing weight made you score lower on the charts, then it doesn’t seem they are worthless?

(Griffin Mekelburg) #7

oh they are very worthless, it is a ratio of weight to body height and makes no sense why it has ANY repercussions on insurance. Anyone with a set of “guns” has been having issues with insurance because their BMI is too high, well if insurances learned muscle weighs more than fat per volume, they would understand why this system is atrocious.

I second that observation!

According to the BMI charts I should weigh 189 lbs for my height. It won’t take me long at all to go over that by quite a few pounds when I start bulking once this all settles down a bit. American insurance follows BMI religiously when it’s a basically useless correlation. Doctor’s offices also use this as a metric on your medical records when it means absolutely nothing.
