Oils, supplements etc. I'm not doing any, should I?

I’ve been eating keto for 9 weeks now, lost just under 30 lbs dieting alone. I watch my macros and shoot for 7/25/5 with carbs being under 20 total (not net).

I eat my first meal of the day around noon, then dinner around 6, maybe some nuts or parm. crisps along the way. Coffee with heavy cream in the a.m.

I don’t do bullet proof coffee, no MTC, no coconut oil, no fat bombs etc. Am I missing out on benefits from these items? I figured since I can hit my targets based on what I’m eating and I’m losing weight I’m not going to worry about them. But then I read about all the people using them and I’m wondering if I’m short changing myself.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, no there’s no need to supplement unless you’re trying to affect change to a certain condition.

I only do BPC before a strenuous performance. Salt and ACV to flush afterwards when joints ache.

Magnesium to aid cramping if I’ve been fasting too much. And not feasting sufficiently.

I’ve picked up a probiotic since a lot of what I’ve read is pointing to gut health uber alles. (And I’ve got a decade of IBS to correct, sheesh.)

9 weeks in, don’t build bad habits. You can gain weight doing keto if you overeat, and the easiest way to do that is to eat a lot of tasty fat over your normal satiety signals.

Short answer, make sure there’s a reason you’re going to supplement.

Charley is right on. Only thing to add, you can make sauerkraut easily and save the money for the probiotics. It’s also likely more effective. I put jalapenos in the last batch. 3 more days and it will be on a bratwurst

Thank you for the replies, good information.

No over eating here, my daily calorie intake is around 1,550-1,600 religiously.

I bought some supplements to get me started (exogenous ketones, keto vitamins, mct pills) as I tend to go overboard on any venture I embark on, but after they run out I don’t think I’m gonna buy them any more. I think they help but your diet is the main thing.
