Oh, no Wisconsin!

I tried a border crossing last Saturday to smuggle in gold from IL, but I couldn’t find any in Gurnee :joy::pensive::triumph::sob::fearful:

Should I start air drop rescues from Ohio?

(Gloria) #4

You will probably have to venture a little further south. I am not aware of a good source in Gurnee, but if you have a membership at Costco there is one in Mettawa ( a little south of Libertyville). If you are willing to go even a little further south I would check out the ads for Garden Fresh Market (Mundelein), periodically they have it on sale for 2.50 a package.

I stock up periodically. It is good that they typically have pretty long best by dates.

Border prices will be high! Just like Wisconsin does on the border to Spotted Cow. I smell a trade deal here!

(Patrick B.) #6

Whispers… Hey, I know a guy with some good Kerrygold if you can get your hands on some Wisconsin cheese.

(Tessy M.) #7

It’s the beer. Spotted Cow beer is a delightful creme ail that can’t be sold anywhere but in Wisconsin, and is 'sconies prefer it that way. More for us!

My van is filled with Spotted Cow, damn my fellow cheeseheads I’m givin’ up the beer for the gold!

@becky don’t do it! have your beer and butter too!

assuming that amazon isn’t considered a “store” and wisconsin hasn’t threatened amazon (hah!) could be a temporary workaround…to a stupid problem…

become your local neighborhood kerry gold dealer!
first pat is free…

Oh Judas Priest…this is what the Wisconsin government chooses to spend it’s resources on…really?!?

Perhaps some butter-delivery drones would be helpful? Now if they find some arcane reason to outlaw bacon, I think they might have an armed rebellion on their hands.
My heart goes out to my Wisconsin keto brethren.

Sadly, Amazon opened a HUGE distribution center less than 10-miles from me and is considered a store in WI :hushed::slightly_frowning_face:

(I want abs... olutely all the bacon) #12

I’m looking forward to a Chicago area Meatup in April, which I feel will be set for a south or southwest burb… I have a big cooler ready for the butter!

#13

First they came for my 20 oz sodas, then they came for my butter. What will they outlaw next?

(Guardian of the bacon) #14

Pork bellies are on the horizon.

(Michelle) #15

Do they still sell Vital Farms grass fed butter?? I buy their eggs and grass fed butter. Delicious.

(I want abs... olutely all the bacon) #16

I buy Organic Valley, a WI based grass-fed dairy coop. Excellent products, the butter isn’t as deep gold as Kerry.

(Brad) #17

MN still has plenty. I have a black market/underground railroad ramping up.

(Tessy M.) #18

My mom told me that when she was young that my grandparents would load them up and drive down to Illinois to get Oleo. It was illegal in Wisconsin, being the dairy state and all… This was when the government and doctors sold us on the notion that butter was bad and margarine was the healthy alternative. I always thought “how ridiculous!”
I’m beginning to understand!

(Jennifer) #19

I live on the border of MN & WI…whenever I travel to the cities, I stock up on Kerrygold!

Yeah, the good old dairy state. They started that quite a while ago, but it’s still available in certain Trader Joe’s there. (My daughter lives in Wisconsin. I’m on the east coast.)
Trader Joe’s here have T.J. French Cultured butter but it’s not available at the Trader Joe’s locations my daughter shops at.
