Oh NO! LOW FAT AVOCADOS!

(Kathy L) #1

My sister sent me this -found at Festival foods- we are doomed! Now we can’t even trust an avocado to be good ( without scrutiny)

LOVE IT Fiorella!!! My thoughts exactly when I see news segments with expert nutritionists saying: “do this, sub that & you lower the calories from 600 -300” etc., etc., etc… -you know the drill

(Arlene) #6

Ah, say it isn’t so!!! Is nothing sacred?

(Artem) #7

Don’t worry, I’m pretty shure it’ll be proudly saying it’s “healthy” and low fat so you won’t miss it

(Autumn Sangra) #8

I’ve had one of those so called “avocados” so nasty! No flavor! That was a few years ago of course!

(Larry Lustig) #9

Hopefully. . .

They’ll probably just add maltodextrin to bee sweat.

#14

Yikes! Another thing to watch out for…thanks for the heads up!

(Kathy L) #15

Yes-I’m sure I will catch the stickers/signage— But I don’t want to have to be hyper vigilant!! sigh these things just kinda piss me off!

Let an avocado BE sn avocado, Damn it!!!

(David) #16

What next? Nectar free bacon?

#17

There are two main types of avocados that you can get in the U.S.: Florida/SlimCado and Califonia/Hass avocados. FL avocados have a higher fiber to fat ratio than California avocados, so per gram the fat content is lower in FL avocados. They are a big ‘meatier’ because they are more fibrous, and their flavor is more mild due to the fat content being lower. I actually like FL avocados–they are not an engineered fake food, they are just a different variety. They also work better than CA avocados for one my favorite recipes.

Bribes helped get the “low-fat” craze going.

Thanks for this info - I was beginning to wonder if one variety had a bigger seed, hence less calories.

I’ll watch for the florida ones - usually I just see the California or Mexico varieties.
