Odd NSV

Here’s kind of an odd NSV. My tongue is no longer swollen and fits between my teeth again! For years I’ve had the problem of always biting my tongue and having indentations in it from my teeth on the sides. I think it was because of my GERD that seems to be getting better. I think it was always swollen from all the acid. Now, just two and a half weeks into keto I looked in the mirror yesterday and noticed my tongue looks normal again. Kind of an odd victory, but a victory nonetheless.

What a great forum - we can share this stuff nomatter how ‘silly’ to the non-keto peeps. That’s a nice little victory there. Biting your tongue is ouchie!

My teeth used to be slightly wiggley now they are more solid.

In a similar vein, I have something called “Geographic Tongue”–white spots and craters appear all over my tongue and after I eat a certain amount of acidic foods my tongue starts to HURT. It’s benign and thought to be hereditary–my mom and my youngest daughter have it, too (and I had a huge fight with her daycare when they suddenly started looking at everyone’s tongues after a case of Hand Foot and Mouth disease showed up and wanted to keep her out because they thought she had it, too). I’ve been told that there is nothing that you can do for it.

Ha!

GONE! My tongue is as smooth as a baby’s bottom (well, smooth as a normal tongue now) on keto. Incidentally, the three of us in my family with geographic tongue (my mom, my daughter, and me) all have insulin resistant PCOS. Coincidence???

And the bumps on my knees, elbows, and bottom of my bum I’ve had since childhood (keratosis pillaris) are gone too!

Yeah the unexpected benefits from this WOE are crazy. I started keto to help with chronic migraine and for weight loss. The migraines do seem to be improving and I have been loosing weight. I hope those trends continue. I’m just amazed at how much better I feel overall.

It is so weird that I read this today because I was literally just looking in the mirror today noticing the same thing…I always felt like my tongue was too big for my mouth and I would always have sores from biting it and indents from my teeth…

cool!

Wow, I have that… big grooves and dents, acid sensitivity… never knew that was a thing! And yes PCOS as well, incidentally. Another thing to look forward to now as I keep ketoing on
