Hi all! I have been working at a Keto diet since the beginning of this year. It’s been slow going but I feel fantastic so I feel it’s a win win anyway. I don’t have a gall bladder so I don’t absorb things as I should. I do take ox bile to help out with that. I’ve worked for a utility company for over 20 years so I feel I am so used to being physical every day that my metabolism is shot. I also have Alpha-Gal that makes me allergic to all things mammal. I can have dairy but not whey. It’s hard to get fatty cuts of birds and fish beyond duck and salmon. I am great full to be able to eat dairy products that has been a big help.
I started doing IF from the advice of my Dr. she also told me to read Dr. Jason Fung’s book, The Obesity Code. I started to lose weight but slowed up again. I then started to do OMAD and I thought this is great, I only have to worry about one meal. I cook everything from scratch and I eat very porposely. Today I am on day 2 of an extended fast and feel really good. I have been scared to do it for some reason, I guess it’s how we are all programmed from our parents. I definitely have learned a lot through these boards, podcasts and YouTube. I still have lots to learn.
Obstacles
Hi. Not sure if I’ll be much help, but I would suggest you try to get fats any way you can. Many people here drink bulletproof coffee with a little coconut oil. Can you eat eggs, cheeses and nuts? They are high in fats too. Increasing fats help you get more progress in weight loss.
I do bulletproof coffee and my favorite duck bacon, eggs cheese and spinach. I’m not into foods with too many ingredients, I keep things very simple. I’m Leary of what’s in many of the ingredients, heck I’m even allergic to colegate toothpaste.
Bulletproof coffee does contain coconut oil so that’s an easy way to take in some fat. I like to cook but when I’m in a hurry I try to keep it simple.
So question, since I can’t have any type of mammal what is a good substitute for pork rinds? I hear about using them for all finds of things but I can’t.
