This article contradicts itself, but the studies on Russian cosmonauts it refers to are compelling. The gist of the article is that the body uses salt in a much more complicated (and still not fully understood) way than previously thought. SHOCKER! We all thought biochemistry was easy, right?
I’ve read about previous studies that suggest the causal relationship between high blood pressure and high salt intake isn’t so straightforward. Not sure what to make of this new information. (That we seem to have monthly urine output patterns is super interesting!) Anyway, I think I’ll keep eating salt as needed.
