NSV I can now carry a full frame as a CCW

This may be a controversial NSV, but one that got me excited none the less. Plus, I’m not afraid of a little controversy. I eat mostly fat for cryin’ out loud.

Anyway, I’m an avid firearm and self-defense enthusiast. I have a carry permit, and carry just about every day. I generally carry IWB (inside the waistband) and have done so for many years, but typically with small framed guns due to my love handles getting in the way and causing it to be uncomfortable to carry larger guns. Well, I was able to comfortably carry my Glock 20 which, for the uninitiated, is a very large gun. I’ve never been able to do this and be anywhere near comfortable, now I can and hardly notice it is there other than the actual mass of it. So, yes, I’m excited!

Nice! My M&P .40 sub-compact is now more difficult to conceal because I have less curves to break up the outline! And I’m going to have to get a new carry belt, I’m on the last hole even when carrying IWB! This diet thing is expensive, but at least I don’t have to spend so much on prescriptions for blood pressure!

Congrats!

Awesome!!

Love seeing this topic, thanks for posting. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill NSV that people share online.

Can you believe people still cart around 1911s? :head_bandage:

Hey hey a 10mm! I wonder if they make an IWB holster for my Glock 40?

Nice, I love Glock 40’s. The holster I carry my 20 in (CompTac MTAC) would probably work but it would require modification, you’d have to cut the kydex where the muzzle is to allow your longer slide and barrel to protrude. But I don’t recommend doing this because then you don’t have protection against something hitting the muzzle and causing the gun to come up out of the holster. It would be one hell of a carry piece though!

You’re welcome! I never notice anything gun related on NSVs around the net. But when you carry IWB everyday like I do, you notice your weight fluctuations due to your pants fitting tighter with the gun or the gun belt notch not working for you anymore and having to cinch it up more and more. More so than not having all the added weight in one spot with a gun, you can get away with tighter or looser fits and not notice as much.

I had to buy a new gun belt too, that was another NSV but I never posted it. My last belt was an easy fit instructor belt. http://www.thewilderness.com/belts/easy-fit-original-instructor-belt/ It worked well for me for years, it adjusted out, looser and looser no problem. When I started losing weight, I had to tighten and tighten and eventually I hit where the kydex reinforcement insert was in the belt and then it would not go through the buckle (the belt has to double over itself on that style of buckle). It would not get any tighter. Eventually I had to buy a smaller belt. Most other belts I would have just drilled more holes and kept cinching, but I couldn’t with that type of belt. I love NSV’s but they’ve been costing me money!!

Yes I can, while heavy, they are quite thin. They aren’t my cup of tea though for concealed carry, I prefer no external safeties to have to fumble with in a stressful situation. :sunglasses:

I use a PJ Holster deep conceal iwb holster for my XDm 3.8 9mm, I carry about the 5 o clock position… though my pants do not stay up where they should, as no matter how big I’ve got I don’t have a butt… I do want to carry appendix though I’ve got a long way to go to losing my gut…

Same experience here, after losing 30 lbs on LCHF/keto!

If I want to carry my Wilson Combat 1911 I just wear my old fat guy pants and they give me plenty of room.
