NSV: Getting The Band Back Together

(Randy) #1

I played guitar in bands around my local area since 1984. The longest time I was without a band until I “retired” in Sept. 2016 was probably 3 months. The highlight of my 32 years of music was playing in a Pink Floyd Tribute that played a lot down south, and in the mid-west (US) from 1996 to 2002. But 2016 I was so fat and sick I had to stop. I had sciatica so bad I had to sit in a chair durring parts of the shows. That’s no way to ROCK!!!

So fast forward to today. I am down over 160 lbs, and have had my first rehearsal with the keyboardist I played with all those years, and a drummer that I played with in recent years. Hard to describe how much I’ve missed playing music with friends. What a blast.

Here’s a video of a gig we did in 2000 in State College, PA if anyone is interested. I’m on guitar in the middle.

ROCK ON KETO PEEPS!!!

You guy sound great! I’m so glad you get to do the thing you love without pain. Rock on!

I’m a big Floyd fan (not literally big any more) and I usually don’t like tributes much but you guys sound awesome! I would have paid to listen to this after Syd died.

I went to see Floyd in Jacksonville, back in '87 and it’s definitely my favorite concert experience. You and your band brought back that memory.

Also, your avatar has always made me think of 80’s band hair… and I couldn’t help but smile when I saw this thread.

I will come back and listen to more, later, when I have more time.

Thanks for the nice responses!

Outside of family and friends, music has always the biggest influence in my life. It’s nice to be looking forward for a change.

Not to mention Ricardo Montalban . . .

I have fond memories of Fantasy Island on Friday nights. Thanks “Randy”.

Awesome NSV. Rock on, without the pain. Video is a nice one too.

Khaannnn! As an aspiring (perspiring) guitarist, you’re good! I know it’s redundant to tell a pro that, but seriously.

Hadn’t listened to this until today. Glad to hear your progress gave you back such a major part of your life.

Thanks Bob!!!

Randy, that is a great video. Brings back memories of my listening to Pink Floyd. And 160 pounds is of course awesome.

Gosh I love Pink Floyd and listen to them every week. This sounds great. Rock on!

Thanks Eric and Bob M.
