Nothing is happening!

Hello everyone!!

I’m so happy I found this place because I am losing my mind. So I started Keto 6 weeks ago. Before starting Keto, I was a volunteer in a raw vegan detox facility so I went through a month of a clense. No salt, no oil, no sugar, no nuts. Just very basic veggies and limited seeds. I lost about 15 lbs on that one, and the very next day when I came home I started Keto. I lost 6 pounds on Keto, I think it the first two weeks and then nothing. It’s been 4 weeks without any results.

I stick to the 5% carb 20% protein and 75%fat. My carbs are never over 25gram but usually under 20. I track everything. I go to the gym. I have 70 pounds to lose so I was expecting a little more than this.

I am supposed to eat 1400 calories per day, but I don’t eat more than I can and usually that’s around 1100 calories.

I didn’t get the keto breath, rash, nothing. I didn’t have a hard time adapting to this diet and I’ve been sticking to it. I cook everything from scratch. What do I do?

And … there’s absolutely the most likely problem (both numbers) - not eating nearly enough, so your body is grimly hanging onto every bit of fat it can.

Plus you came from a vegan starvation diet (by the sounds of it) and still managed to lose more on keto… to me that sounds completely amazing… If I’d gone keto from that way of eating I’d probably have gained more than you had lost previously…
Don’t expect too much … the fact that you are now eating better and haven;t regained is a major win in my eyes…
Plus what @juice says above too…

the keto weight was probably water lose, and as Mark said a vegan starvation, so your metabolic rate is greatly reduced. I know sounds odd, but first thing is get the metabolism speed back up with food, then cut the fat down to burn body fat after 5 to 6 weeks. It will happen, but often when first on a keto diet the first thing the body has to do is heal,

The majority of your adaptation occurred while you were doing your vegan diet. Lipolytic adaptation happens by not eating carbs rather than eating fat. Be patient, as the benefits of fat based nutrition are numerous, but your fat loss will be at a more normal rate of around one pound per week , over time. You also can eat a lower fat macro now since you’re fairly adapted. As long as you eat 60 percent or more you’ll be fine. A little lower fat macro will encourage your body to use more stored fat.

A 21 pound loss, including glycogen, over a ten week period is excellent, you’re doing great.

It’s going to be a marathon. Make every attempt to think in terms of months and years vs days and weeks. Your journey will be up and down. You will have stalls. You will troubleshoot with help from this group. You will continue to cure yourself. Think long game.

But I eat till I’m full. Should I add?

(Melody Kia) #8

I didn’t think of it that way. Thank you

(Melody Kia) #9

Do you have any advice for metabolic healing?

(Melody Kia) #10

Thank you. I’ll be more patient!!

(Melody Kia) #11

Yes, I’ll have to hang in there. Thank you !!

The scale doesn’t always show your loosing. Keep up the good work and the scale will catch up.

I did not see the question to me, it just popped up on my screen now. You are on the path of healing with your change to being a fat burner. The greatest healing comes from extended IF, 36 hours plus, this is the time the body can look for broken cells and take them out.
As your marathon moves along the body is looking after the healing now that it is getting the right fuel.

Sounds like a POW camp. I had no idea vegan detox facilities existed.

You got a lot of good advice and I won’t parrot. Just wanted to say welcome.

Also, where did these figures come from?

Yes, I think you should be eating more on the face of it, but I’m no expert, I just know what works and what hurts.
