So as I said in my previous post I am coming up on my first week in Keto. I started with a 36 hour fast then into keto, after day 3 I’ve had crazy energy and feel great and I only eat 1-2 times a day, it’s usually about 50-75% of the recommended macros. Are there any negatives to not eating enough? I know it’s eat when your hungry but since I’ve been hungry after meals for years I’m used to living with a little hunger feeling in my stomache. Also been going to the gym a lot to burn off this energy, great workouts and leave with same amount of energy lol wish I knew about this 10 years ago.
Not eating enough?
Yea that’s what I assumed, just always a little nervous
haven’t had a single craving for anything yet and I’ve been living on pizza/ceral/burgers/candy for years.
Isn’t keto amazing?? I love it! It sounds like you’re on the right track and getting the benefits.
yea it’s pretty great so far. Love that I can go to Five Guys and get a Bunless Double Bacon Cheeseburger with extra Cheese and Bacon. I made a nice juicy steak with some egg for my meal today, if I think about it I’m probably on a 20-4IF
I totally agree, don’t restrict. Listen to your body. Eat if you’re hungry. Don’t eat if you’re not hungry.
Can’t imagine if I were hungry and no energy I wouldhave done this on the leg press on Friday. I did 15 reps at 270lbs,12 reps at 360, 12 reps 450, 8 reps at 540 and finished with 3 reps at 630, and still had energy when I left.
If you’re not hungry, don’t eat! Simple!
How many people overeat because they eat when not hungry?
I don’t agree either. @UnclePluck is not restricting, just eating when hungry only. Keto is all about listening to your body and actually starting to do what it wants. OK if you are underweight and really need to be gaining some weight it is a different matter but if you have some excess body fat kicking around, it is going to sustain you just fine.
This is great. If you do feel tired though, please listen and rest up. Make sure you are drinking loads of water, taking enough salt and magnesium (especially if you get cramps or restless legs).
You sounds like you are going great guns - and are building them too! Keep it up and keep listening. If your body says slow down and eat more - do it. If you feel great doing what you are doing - keep doing it. Yay for keto!
Thanks guys I appreciate all input
I am currently 6ft 255lbs. Today I did eat an 8oz steak with 4 eggs and was feeling a little hungrier than usual so I just made a double iceburger
I work third shift from 9pm-5:30am and I am eating between 3pm-11pm which is more like 4pm- 8pm. I’m constantly busy at work so it’s easy not to eat. Well no being hungry helps.
I didn’t mean to eat when you’re not hungry…just hate that old “diet” mentality of restriction/“overeating” and trying to avoid getting sufficient food. Especially as a woman, it pisses me off that we’re supposed to eat these tiny portions of salad and act like we’re full. Nuts to that. Not advocating just eating because you “should” I was just making the point that our bodies know what and how much we want if we just listen.
@UnclePluck - do you work in a bakery??? If so, my hats off to you!!! I know since I’ve been eating Keto, I have zero carb cravings. But, if I worked in a bakery, that may change. I’ve only been eating Keto since the beginning of the year, so 10 days in. I have energy and feel great. This new WoE does take some mind shift to get used to - instead of the old CICO approach.
FYI - I worked in a bakery in high school and gained 60 lbs. We could eat anything we wanted as long as it was in the store!!
Yea i bake overnight at Panera Bread. Anytime i get a craving i just remember how it makes me feel.
I have gotten to goal weight, in fact I don’t want to lose anymore! My blood sugar is at goal, and my problem is, I am not feeling hungry enough! I have to force myself to eat! I get my leptin is not resistant at all anymore, so I don’t have the appetite I used to have.
