Not a new years resolution

I am back again, not to this forum I am new here, but I am not new to keto or LCHF or Atkins. After struggling with my weight for over 15 years, where I would lose 50lbs, gain 60lbs, lose 40 lbs, gain 65lbs, etc. I finally got my mind, body & spirit aligned at the same time and dropped nearly 200lbs. I was eating keto and using intermittent fasting like a champ. I was not at my final goal weight or anything but I was looking good, feeling good and apparently take a ride down complacency Avenue. Before I could really conceive of what was happening I had slipped into old eating habits and the weight was coming back on with a vengeance. Instead of regrouping and getting back to it, I just gave up and let all that weight and then some return. You know that old song and dance; I’ll start back up tomorrow. Ugh.

Then yesterday I was sitting here in my widebody not wanting to live like this and found I was not dreaming of the svelte muscular body I had in my youth. Nope. I was dreaming of that thick overweight body I had after dropping those 200lbs. That’s when I came across this on another website: “If I quit now I will soon be back to where I started… but where I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.” Truer word. That quote with no know author rang very true and inspired me to get back to that place and from there, who knows. But that place was great. I could easily and comfortable do the things I needed and wanted to do. I had ample clothing and they fit great. I was rarely short of breath and had energy to spare. It was a wonderful place to be and it WILL be a wonderful place to get back to.

Now to surround myself with some motivation and inspiration so I can get my journey started.

YES! I listen to at least one keto podcast every single day, too. It helps keep me on track.

Welcome!

Beautiful post. I’m going to remember that quotation. I needed to read that, so thank you very much for posting it.

Here’s hoping you will soon be back to the thick, overweight body of your dreams. I know what you mean; I am nowhere near my desired weight, but already things that were extremely difficult and painful a year ago are now things I do without even thinking about it!

Keep on ketoing on!

Thanks everyone. I managed to only eat a healthy ketogenic dinner of a broiled pork chop and a nice mixed greens salad with lots of olive oils and a little blue cheese crumbles. It was not without mental difficulty but I got through the day just fine. Today I am fasting all day, including through dinner time. Nothing gets me into ketosis faster than IF. And I really want/need to get into optimal ketosis.

The longest fast I have done is 5 days, but doing 24-48 hours is absolutely nothing for me difficulty wise. Today it just so happens I have a busy day a work with meetings that will take me into the early evening. So I am letting my circumstances assist my journey into ketosis. Besides, when you have a widebody your (my) abdomen puts the F in LCHF.
