NoCarbvember Adventure!

#1

Here it is, day 1 of NoCarbvember.

we got this zc people!

everyone check in and say how good they are doing and if they have any small goals to tackle. We chat zc all the time, on all frequencies, all about how carnivore will work for you and heal you :sunny:

----------------food yesterday for me was

1.5 lbs. NY strip steak
small chicken breast

not alot of food for me. I just wasn’t that hungry. I ate a bit later, I ate around 1 as my meal time instead of eating at 11 as normal. I think those few hrs just backed me off a second meal. I did OMAD again, wow. Rare for me but I just follow what my body wants.

Woke up to a icky, dark, gloomy, rainy, windy day.
BLAH

feel sleepy still and feel like this day is gonna be slow and just gloomy like the weather but will just cruise thru the day.

got 2 NY strip steaks defrosted to eat in my day and pair up with ?? shrimp or chicken or burgers.

All good with my zc mindset. very focused.

Ready to roll thru NoCarbvember! Goals this month is lose a lb or 2, eat very well as usual, just ‘watch me’ and see where this month goes.

Best NoCarbvember to all!

Good morning  looks like breakfast will be about half a pound of chicken livers wrapped in half a pound of bacon, and dinner will be half a slab of pork ribs oven roasted with maybe half a pound of shrimp dipped in butter.

Day #1 When is Ground Hog day?

To prep for NoCarbvember I went to the butcher. Chicken frames and beef mince for the dog.

Today I cooked up beef sausages and chicken wings. These will be catcher’s mitt foods for when I think I am hungry. I also have some biltong and boiled eggs. The chickens are in full lay, so plenty of eggs available.

Breakfast was 4 egg omelette cooked in butter with 3 slices Jarlsberg cheese. Coffee with cream.
7 hrs later it is Sunday night fish night = fillet of Atlantic salmon. I had a beef sausage and 4 chicken wings with it. My wife had a large green salad, pumpkin and avocado with her salmon.

I think I will explore carnivore foods to have available, edible straight away, in case a steak meal does not fully satisfy. The weekend is an ideal time to cook them and load them in the fridge.

I always say Billie is one lucky dog and got a great owner in the lot of life!

what you said is so good. prepare always for yourself. we never know when carb monster addiction rears it head and we never know exactly when we ‘need food now’ to help us. I was a prepper for this plan when I started long ago. I surrounded myself with food available at all times and I tell ya, it works and helps us so much! And I can say I do it to this day too LOL I am never without options to eat if hungry, I won’t allow myself to ever be without those options! I think you are focused on a very good path doing this!!

one thing us zc people need to always remember is any and all food you eat in a day that is animal kingdom only is fair game. There is never a thought of ‘oh I might be eating too much’ because that does not come into play on this plan. We eat as we need to get thru situations and heal more internally and we never have any guilt or negative thoughts about eating our zc food, as much as we need each day. Our eating patterns and improved healing will change our appetites around as we hold plan tight. Just follow those signals and listen to our bodies on what it is asking from us and if you throw zc food options at it all the time, any amt. you need to eat, any time of the day, you are doing the right thing all the time

Sorry guys… But I’m gonna have to be scarce on here. Because I’m going to some retreat thing for a month… To sort out problems. And so there’s no point. Cos I’ll have to eat the food they give me. :flushed:. But maybe we cook our own food but it’s a strict structured place so I doubt I’ll be allowed to do zero carb.. Also I was developing an eating disorder on zero carb. Lost so much weight in a very short time. So I been just eating whatever. Though I still can’t stand sugar… I think I can handle it and just can’t. Lol.:upside_down_face:. So I feel bad for being on here. But i love this keto Carni lifestyle. It’s just, I need to recover. So just checking in. And I’ll be back… It’s been a crazy year.:flushed:. I did eat good chicken steaks today… they were nice… But yeah. So good luck on your November thread. And I will check in sometimes… I love this forum. But i feel a hypocrite being on here right thus moment. I’ll be back when I’m serious about the lifestyle. But for now. My health is my top priority.:upside_down_face:

My goal, which just became a whole lot easier, was to make it through thanksgiving without taking a bite of my mom’s sweet potato soufflé. That just became a non issue, so I’m just going to continue to enjoy my omads and the benefits I’m seeing from them!

I will show you my meal when I eat it. It will include steak, eggs, chicken liver pâté, and some added fat sources. I’ve been eating in the early afternoon.

Will miss you but I sure understand one must put their overall health and well being as a top priority and you are doing just that! I know you will find balance and come out stronger and healthier and raring to go!! Big HUGS to you B! I know you will come back and check in and let us know you are doing ok!! Wishing you the best of the best and sending prayers all your ducks line up and you get your health back!

with some fab pics to make us all drool

non-issue?

I take it the day got cancelled somehow. My mom is 92 and she said she is not coming cause she is covid scared. I said fine and then I checked with hubby’s mom and she said she ain’t coming cause of the same thing. Older ya are the more they get worried being out and about and I sure get that! So for us it is just us here. We are gonna do steak and crab or lobster. Your meal sounds fab also!!!

It’s Nocarbvember alright! 50 mph winds. Snow. Freezing. Yep.

This morning, so far, just hot black coffee. Will do up a couple fried eggs and butter though.
Rump roast and short ribs in the slow cooker.

Got today off, so, going to head to church in a bit, and hope dinner is cooked when we get home. Blessings and noCarbs to you all!

Hello,
Haven’t been active for about a year.

I was doing keto, then summer 2020 slowly switched to carnivore, ie: just didn’t feel like eating veggies. Fruit took a bit longer to give up.:upside_down_face:

Been looking into zerocarb, and today is Day 19 of ZC. The last thing I had to give up was my anxiety/crutch/addiction to cream cheese frosting sweetened with Swerve. Maybe I should restart my zerocarb journey as I had some sugar-free ciders a few days ago (stressful day at work, there were tears). It might be zero sugar, but it’s still alcohol, so still a poison. Now I’m curious if that little jaunt into no-no land might have caused some muscle inflammation/pain in my mid-back. (When DH eats gluten, it can take 2 days for his joint pain symptom to appear.) Or if it’s “just” stress related (covid rules) and I should just learn to relax. Wondering if the erythritol (swerve) is messing with my insulin, and perhaps causing some issues. Back in 2009 I was 210lbs and a random (evening) BG test of 18.5. I figure I was diabetic, or maybe “just pre”. Took a couple of years to take it seriously, then paleo happened in 2011. 2013 - primal. 2019 - keto. 2020 summer - keto/carnivore.

Food most days is 3 boiled eggs mashed with butter, with bacon “croutons” in morning before work. If time permits, I’ll also eat a steak with blue cheese, than off to work. If no time for steak, then I’ll bring some ground beef with cream cheese that DH called “dog food” cuz it looks like it :joy: He loves it though. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

We don’t have a very varied diet right now, due to budget and time. Mostly it’s ground beef, steak, bacon, eggs, cheeses, whipping cream (no milk). Sometimes we’ll a whole chicken with a dairy-based gravy. Another dish DH called “shit on a shingle” that EVERYONE loves is a cream sauce (HWC, cream cheese, sour cream. cheddar, parm, blue cheese, butter (browned), spices) with a bunch of meats thrown in, ie: bacon (always), chicken, ham, shrimp. I’ll make that once a week or so.

Other than that verbal diarrhea, don’t know what else to say.

holy moly SB and I feel bad cause I got some rain  You take the prize for tough weather!

ZC ON!

HI Kismet

Yea join in the challenge! NoCarbvember and we are doing just that so you are fine if you had some cider junk a few days ago…that is past…every meal forward will be zero carb. Carnivore is the way to go to cut inflammation to the ultimate and heal the body!!

I love how you word your descriptions for your meals…my kind of food!

hey steak and burger and more, that is fab zc foods. I live on just that!

you make fancy gravy type things, only extra I make is my homemade alfredo sauce. I would dip shrimp and chicken into it and loved it, but ya know, it is work to make it LOL I kinda dropped it by the wayside.

Jump on the Carni-train. Dump the junk and go all in and hang with us!!

Love the term Catcher’s Mitt Foods. Great analogy.

We finally had a beautiful day here, sunshine and everything  The strong wind was yesterday when we cycled to get smoked pork. The usual rain arrived later but we had a nice walk in a nearby forest and picked a lot of mushrooms. They were pretty and I have space in the freezer right now. We will can them later.

I have a bad headache though and it resists the pills. I wasn’t hungry all day (no wonder after my carby days) but at this point food became a good idea so I ate at 4pm. 2 chicken thighs, a little smoked pork chuck, a slice of cheese and 6 eggs. Very small meal but enough for today. And I had some chicken soup in the end, I usually like as my first course as it’s normal but I started to eat earlier than it got ready. Nice soup.
Meanwhile Alvaro made 2 other vegetable dishes and a pasta one (well that’s my fault as we bought quark and he can’t imagine any other dish with it, just pasta). The contrast between our cooking style just gets bigger… Oh well. He should enjoy his weekend as I totally will make carnivore dishes for both of us during the week  He will enjoy that too but he would miss his veggies if I would be the only cook. Or who knows? But tomorrow I don’t need to cook for him, that’s nice. I have soup and 2 boiled eggs too…

As time passed, I just lost the need to be prepared. I always have eggs, cheese, smoked pork, I easily make a complete meal of these right away. And I can always wait 1-2 hours anyway. My sudden strong attention whore hunger disappeared when I got fat adapted and my softer hunger diminished a lot since then too. Except during a meal and if I didn’t get satiated yet, that’s “during a meal”. So if I don’t have surely enough food, I should fast as I won’t be really hungry then but an interrupted meal is pretty bad, at least off carnivore it definitely is. This is one thing my SO is exactly like me. He rather suffer hunger than risking an even much worse one after eating a little food. I don’t suffer to begin with. Sure, I need to eat eventually but I eat every day and it’s more than enough to avoid some bothersome hunger.

My mind is mostly off from food now, at least from my own (I can’t suddenly stop thinking about dishes, I get reminded to them, I cook sometimes and I see Alvaro cook… so there is some presence).
It’s nice. Simple and chill. Now I need this. I will eat something tomorrow too, I don’t even plan (not like I ever was good with sticking to plans. it’s best to plan when I want to eat already or a bit earlier, I won’t change plans 10 times before cooking then. it’s so nice my food items usually has a long shelf life. no pressure to consume them quickly).

I planned a lactose-free time but I don’t know at his point. Not now for sure though today was accidentally lactose-free… I forgot the existence of my tuna spread with mascarpone and sour cream. I probably won’t have whipping cream though. What would I use it for without coffee and sweet desserts?

Oh and I keep my mustard, after all. Just a little bit.

I had no coffee and no tea. I drank water. It was nice.

I am half a day ahead of you all, so yesterday was my start. Finished night shift with chaffles, bacon and butter. Dinner was eggs and lamb.

It’s 0420 on 2nd Nov and I just ate two little packets of butter and am having some tea with cream now. Pretty busy night here in birth Suite, salty butter has perked me up a bit to get through the rest of the shift.

Meals tomorrow will be simple, something heavy when I get home ?beef steak so that I sleep through until nearly dinner time.
Day 7 zc for me today.

Goals for Nov:
*Get in the zc groove.
*loose the extra pudge I gained when I stopped meticulously tracking my keto eating.
*Find a spot where I can just eat intuitively, counting/tracking works for me but is not how I want to live long term.

Go us!

(Barri) #18

Okay, I’m in. A few weeks ago I had a bad reaction to some new medicine, and found that eliminating all fiber from my diet was the only thing that helped. Since I’m already doing almost zero carb by avoiding fiber, I might as well go all the way zero carb for the month.

Today’s meal was Spam (please don’t judge) and eggs cooked in bacon fat.

Question: how do you plan to handle Thanksgiving (for those in the U.S.)?

(Daisy) #19

Today’s glorious meal:

#20

great goals and ones that will be very doable…time on plan changes us in so many ways, you will get the ‘zc zen and get in the groove’, figure the pudge will move but of course on its timeline LOL and I swear when ya stop tracking, omgosh life gets so much better!
Cool

HI and so glad you are joining us…yea you are there right now in zc so might as well continue…sorry you ended up so sick from the meds! Hope you improve good now.

Spam is cool LOL I eat Taylor Ham Porkroll and is one of my go to easy foods I just love so your Spam is good, but for me I don’t use the Pork roll for ‘a big meal’ ya know, I use it as a side dish…try to keep your mind more on fresh big old slabs of meat and use these other things as side items and you will roll along great!!

Wonderful pics KD! I am just staring at that big old pile of shrimp, man I want that right now LOL

WE ALL are gonna have a great NoCarbvember.
