And some beef rib from butchers delish and very fatty!

(Daisy) #82

Hi there! If you look at my platters, you’ll see that I definitely strive for a more ketogenic approach to carnivore. I do fatty cuts of meat, add animal fats (bone marrow, tallow, lard, suet, pork fat, butter, etc) to my meals.

#83

I was looking at beef short ribs at Costco yesterday. I don’t know how to cook then, but I’m sure they would be great braised or roasted. I think I’ll get some on my next Costco visit and give them a try.

LOL! I watch the Bearded Butchers on youtube, and have long admired their Traeger. I am SO jealous!!! Yesterday, they grilled picanha steaks on skewers, and then seared on a Lodge cast iron griddle that actually FIT INSIDE the Traeger! That thing is massive. I need one. I need one BAD. hahaha!

I put beef ribs, on the bone, in a glass oven dish with lid after searing them in a dry fry pan. I add a pint of beef stock just to keep it moist while cooking and cook it in a low oven, 140 fan assisted for anywhere between 2 to 4 hours. You could also do it in a slow cooker over night. I have just cooked 2 fresh from butchers and having the second one this evening. Absolutely beautiful… the meat just so tender. So simple to cook. You may not want to do this but I like to add a madras curry paste to stock as it just flavours the rib even more. I dont tend to eat the ā€˜gravy’ but just use it for flavouring during cooking. I’m not a gravy lover.

Thank you for this! Going to definitely try it.

smart move here…longer you are settled on your keto plan and adapt and time marches on, just researching another plan you might want is a good idea. but if your keto does you great, don’t monkey with what is working so well for you  Most people come the zero carb carnivore way because we need to do this plan for success.

and supplements fall in a gray area. yes we say drop almost every single one but if you need some magnesium for cramps etc. then a little is fine. We can ā€˜treat symptoms’ thru adaption and all that with some supps but remember supps cover alot of things. Some people are on SO much it is crazy LOL every herbal supp out there and all that is needless mostly unless one had med treatment issues and more and something does help them. So use discretion on what you really do not need and just eliminate them at that. Of course none is preferable LOL I take nothing and haven’t for years now.

cook beef short ribs long and slow to get them super tender~! YUM I use crockpot or oven. Sear the meat crispy…put in crockpot or oven on low and let them just go til tender.

Well eats yesterday consisted of eggs and butter. chicken and a bit of provolone. Beef short ribs. and more eggs and butter.
Today begins with coffee + a scoop of collagen peptides from NeoCell. Will likely have eggies and butter again - because I love them and my hens are still laying.

Still sorting out what meat to eat later. Steak sounds good, so we shall see. Got today off, and its supposed to hit 60F here. Good day to go vote. Might pull on a pair of shorts and Tshirt- and go for a walk, too. Its kinda funny thinking about that since there is still snow on the ground from this past weekend.
Totally unrelated to carnivore, but funny…
So, new edict here, beginning yesterday, from her highness the Gov… If you go to a restaurant or bar in MI- you MUST provide your full name and contact info. Failure to do so can result in a $1000 fine, or 6 mos in jail +200 fine. (Its a little more info than what you'd give for a reservation, but most places in this area do't do reservations, so some will be annoyed.) Now, around here, everyone knows everyone. The eateries and bars are especially gifted in remembering names and faces. My FIL, a stoic-looking Finn with an insane sense of humor, walks into his fav place, and the waitress asks for his full name and phone #. Dad looks at her, and first wonders if she was hitting on him. When she laughs and says, "no"...Dad, with a seriously confused face, says " Well, then wadt da hell you need dat for? I'm here every d#* daY!" Then he calls my husband, and the conversation ensuesā€¦ā€œHad the damnedest thing happen this morning. I walk in for breakfast with yer Ma, and da waitress - I see her every day - asks me for my full name, address and phone number! What da hell do they want my information for? I come here every day! they know me by name, probably know my credit card number too. What da hell is going on??!ā€ So, hubby had to explain it to him. Silence. Then we hear Dad cussing in Finnish on the other end of the phone. …I’m snickering by then because he’s hilarious when he gets like this. But, he’s actually seriously confused and slightly annoyed/offended that they’d ask information of him that they already know…like, 'you forgot who I am?" sort of thing . Anyways, that is our new way of life if we choose to eat out, or if the kids go for a beer. I can see some malicious compliance stories already.

Well…time for eggies and butter. Have a lovely day, all!!!

We’re getting used to that here in UK, it’s been required for a while. Most places have a scan code for track n trace phone app and some a sign in book other places like pub eateries have ordering app which takes your details. All a bit big brother but hey ho, that’s the current life as we know it. We go into national 4 week lockdown as of this thursday … got my fridge and freezer well stocked with meat to keep me going just in case with have everything flying off the shelf as it did beginning of first national lockdown!

That sounds amazing. I’d love to get an RV some day. I hope you enjoy yourself. You deserve it.

Oh my goodness, this is so funny.:joy: Thank you for sharing this, it made me laugh so hard.

Wow, this is crazy to me. I really hope we don’t have any more lockdowns here in the USA. So many have already lost jobs.

Breakfast this morning was calf liver, two sausages, and coffee with HWC. I brought some Ribeye for lunch and tonight I’m making chicken salad from my left over rotisserie chicken I had for lunch yesterday.

I was in Sainsbury’s earlier this afternoon and some of the shelves are looking very empty. The freezer section is out of frozen peas and many other frozen veg options (assume people are stocking up), there are no loo rolls to be had but plenty of eggs at the moment.

It looks very much like a re-run of the panic buying in March/April.

Our daughter works in Waitrose and they are limiting the number of some items which each customer can buy in one shop.

(Daisy) #95

I’m currently listening to George Orwell’s 1984 on audio…

(Daisy) #96

Today’s lovely meal headed into my weekly 48’ish hour fast:
Using up some things in my fridge that were on the verge of going bad. Eggs, boarshead kielbasa, salted pork and whipped tallow, vermontcreamery butter, oldcroc cheddar, chicken liver pâté, and raw round steak with beef fat and bone marrow

#97

I know, right?! :upside_down_face:

(Karen) #98

I have been buying brisket, roasting joints and steaks each time I go to lidl. It’s just been sort of automatic, when I see, I buy as I know if I don’t get to use them by the use by date then I pop them in the freezer and the freezer is getting pretty full. Plus I couldn’t resist picking up some fresh butchers meat on Saturday, nice to get some cuts I can’t get in lidl. If I can’t do what I love doing most because of Covid-19, which is social dancing, then I might as well spend my money on eating well!

(JJ) #99

sounds like a plan, freeweights you can fit into your day anywhere, anytime.
Do you have a stationary or ordinary bike? I have a hardtail mountain bike (Norco Charger) which is why I ask, I love cycling.

Good luck for lockdown, it is so hard, but the rewards are great. Here in Australia Melbourne has just come out of a hard 6 week lock down, but they have gone from 700+ cases diagnosed daily…to none! Huge economic impacts to be sure, but what is the price of a life? Our government introduced payments of $1500 per fortnight to support affected workers, plus 2x one off payments of $750 spread throughout the year to help out. I hope your government is similarly looking after you guys as lockdown is a huge hit on household incomes.
I live in NSW ( I live 2.5 hours north west of Sydney) and we also have to do the QR scanning to go to restaurants also, I think it is a great system which allows quick contact tracing and is a way forward for businesses to open in the new normal we have found ourselves in. I am wishing you a meat-filled lock down and we are all always here to chat and keep you entertained. With your freezer so stocked, you will come out of lockdown looking like a lean mean, meat eating machine <3
