My Aunt just sent me this, knowing I am on the keto diet.
I am sure she meant well, but I need the science to counter, hopefully someone more learned can counter this. I have been on the keto diet for 2 years, no metabolic issues. Went from 100kg to 80kg in 4months. But more importantly my blood pressure is not borderline anymore.

Why do YOU need the science to counter? Why doesn’t SHE need the science? Because I don’t see the science in this article.

It doesn’t matter. In the world of science and research there will ALWAYS be a side to every debate. Always… science is forever changing, even the “facts” being used to defend keto will likely be morphed in the future. People put way too much weight into science and research. There are too many factors that contribute to results. My job is performing a diagnostic test on people with various forms of heart disease and the “facts” we use to diagnose and treat have and always will be changed based on “new information”. Take it all with a grain of salt. Nothing is black and white.

The only thing relevant here is that you have been on a diet that makes you feel healthier, happier and is giving you good results. 2 years is long enough to know if it works for you. You don’t need to “prove” anything to her.

Shrug it off and just say “This works really well for me.” End of debate.

I know people who feel great on vegetarian diets and high carbs/ low fat diets. I don’t need to prove anything to them. If they are healthy and happy, who cares?

This is from dr. Kim Williams, not sure who thinks he is a top cardiologist, he is a plant based diet doctor. He has no science, just his plant centric view point. There is no science in the article.

Remember, everyone used to think the sun revolved around the earth and that the earth was flat, well? Kinda like that again these days.
