I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months but no one has noticed . I notice and my body feels different in areas when I touch it ( sounds creepy lol but you know what I mean ) how come no one else notices
No one notices
It’s a bummer, isn’t it? No one noticed my loss until about 35 pounds. I don’t notice when people gain or lose weight either, so I have no right to complain.
There’s a difference between noticing and mentioning that they noticed. Some people don’t say anything because they fear bringing it up for reasons of awkwardness, untoward attention, perceptions of harassment, or appearing critical or nosey. Others may fear you are sick, or dealing with a health issue. At the end of the day, your weight is about how YOU feel about it…
Not alot of people mentioned it for the first few months… Now I havnt lost weight for about a month but I get daily comments from coworkers about it. It will come and it will get annoying. Don’t worry.
Most people are so wrapped up in their own lives, they recognize others and don’t really “see” them as far as new changes, until the changes are dramatic. Sometimes wearing new/ different clothes can point out the changes. Some people are concerned that you might be ill, which isn’t their business, so they don’t say anything.
The other thing to remember is that the changes happen slowly over time. Wait till you see someone you haven’t seen in a long time, they may say, “You look great - new haircut?”.
Do it for you. " I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months " that’s really good. Feel good about that achievement within yourself, and I bet the comments on how healthier you look will come flying in.
Seconding @Dom_DePlume, I just wanted to chime in to give you the perspective of someone who never mentions the weight/size of other people. I just find it rude…
Congratulations on your first two months! sounds like you’re doing great
Also, if you are wearing the same clothes, you may be hiding the weight loss within baggy clothes. No one notices when I’m wearing my suit that I have lost over 20 lbs. But if I wear a golf shirt, it becomes much more noticeable.
But I am in the same both with what Dom and Maeleine said…unless it’s really dramatic weight loss, I keep my mouth shut just in case I’m wrong. Same with the pregnant bump.
Good to know. I wear the same work clothes because they still fit just the shirts are baggier like longer and don’t feel as tight but I don’t want to spend money on new clothes until I really have to lol
Or, they may be people who don’t mention it, like me, because they assume it’s none of their goddamned business. Everyone’s weight is their own business and it’s not my place to comment, when other’s weight goes up or down. I honestly think society’s over-commenting on people’s weight is really sick and boundary crossing.
If people TELL me it’s an important issue for them, eg by telling me that they are trying to lose weight, THEN I will give them feedback. But not unasked!
People have said this to me…they have said they were worried that I was seriously sick because of the weight I have lost. I just laugh and say “oh no, I WAS sick, but now I am well, this is the non-sick me!!!”
Everyone at work knows I’m on a diet , occasionally Iv been asked how much I lostabd when I tell them they go " oh wow really?" When they say that it makes me feel like they are saying " really you don’t look different " lol
Awwwwww
Well, maybe it’s time for ONE non-baggy outfit, so you can show off your progress?
Surely that investment wouldn’t be too big and it would be nice getting positive feedback and feeling non-baggy-clothed on some days might motivate you too
I know how you feel and actually gave up at one point when I was on a diet because I figured if nobody is noticing why bother ,but they always notice when I gained it ! 20 pounds in 2 months is amazing girl keep rocking it !
I did this. I bought a running top that fit the new me quite snugly. All my friends just stared at me in awe… “what the fuck did you do???”
