No diabetic , hba1c is higher afte after keto

Ok just check my hba1c and it was 5.6 however I tested it before 2 month it was 5.1 ! Wht happened ? I’m in keto since November ! Now my glucose level it’s 70 usually I have a higher fasting morning level but it’s ok dawn … so my glucose level is good but wht abt hba1c? Wht happened ? I’m thinking to start take Victoza or metformin I knw I have to ask the doctor before to do that but I’m really disappointed why my insulin is higher now ? Keto should lower it not to be higher

You say you tested it? do you mean you tested it at home or your Doctor did it?
I would imagine that home testing kits are pretty inaccurate and the difference is probably just noise…

Honestly I’m starting to be bored from everything ! Since started keto my life changed ! Maybe keto is good for diabetic or obese not for me no weight loss only weight gain everything I’m doing it is perfect ketones level blood sugar bla bla carbs net and nowwww I have this issue my insulin is higher I dnt knw wht I have to do more to be fat adapted

I dnt knw in my country everything is possible bcz we r lazy so the pharmacy here can do cholesterol test and the insulin too :see_no_evil:

Assuming they do it the same way Walgreens does it they take a couple skinny vials of blood and stick it in a machine and in a couple minutes VIOLA! Same machine that does cholesterol.

The HbA1c test measures your average blood sugar level over the past 2-3 months. You keep saying your insulin has gone up but how do you know? Have you had a fasting insulin test as well?

Your overreacting. The difference between an A1C of 5.1 and 5.6 is barely 20mg/dl so it’s completely ignorable in the scheme of things. Also an A1C is a 3 month average so testing again at 2 months doesn’t even give you a real reflection of change, another month may have lowered your overall average by a descent amount. Also, don’t confuse blood sugar and insulin. An A1C doesn’t measure insulin levels it’s a 90 day average of blood sugar. Keyword is AVERAGE. You say everything your doing is perfect, well, if your A1C is going up maybe your not. Have you listed a couple days of diet for people to look at? Are you tracking what your eating? The more info you give us I assure you in most cases we’ll spot the problem pretty quick.

No I was not fasting usually u dnt need to be fast for the insulin test and I did the test last month it was 5,1 or 5,3 … but maybe I was fasting I dnt remember !

Not same machine it’s a machine specific for the insulin thing … for me it’s normal to have such a thing in the pharmacy I dnt knw why ur shocked :joy:

Ok so now I have no idea what you are talking about.
HbA1c does not measure insulin levels it is a measure of blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months.
The test is usually (in the UK at least) done with a blood sample taken from your arm.
Is this the test that you had at the pharmacy or did you just get a finger prick test of your blood sugar level at that precise time?

I would seriously doubt the accuracy of that test compared to one carried out by your doctor.
Why not go and get a “proper” one done and see the results then.
It does not measure your insulin.

You ABSOLUTELY need to be fasted for an Insulin test, it’s literally called your fasting Insulin level, testing it any other way would tell you nothing. If you had a 5.3 you’d be doing AWESOME as anything under 10 is considered ideal. Your confusing insulin and blood sugar.

Ok, so your place uses a different machine than my place, where I go the same machine does cholesterol and AIC. I’ve yet to see anywhere other than a lab do insulin, as far as we’ve always been told from counteless pro’s on the dude’s podcast as well as many others serum insulin can’t be measured out of a lab. I don’t recall being “shocked” about anything. Please elaborate.

I’ve used those, Walmart has them under their ReliOn brand, same exact meter. Me and the wife have done them after she had her “real” A1C done and I think it was only a point off. Comes with a descent sized cartridge and takes a couple minutes to come back, so it’s looking at something.
