What about a carb free sweetener? I typed in splenda and stevia and there calories free but had a carb per pack. Is there anything I can use with out carbs for my coffee
No carb sweetner
Stevia extract is so sweet that it is generally blended with erythritol, to give it some bulk, and that is where the carbohydrate comes from. Erythritol is mostly excreted, not digested, so you can probably ignore it in your carb count. Or if you want to play it safe, count half of it.
Splenda is mostly dextrose (glucose) and maltodextrin, according to the ingredient list, combined with sucralose to boost the sweetness. The manufacturer claims that there is less than 1 g of carbohydrate per serving, as they are permitted to do under U.S. law. Since, however, the chosen serving size weighs 0.5 g, my guess is that the product is entirely carbohydrate (since 0.5 g is definitely less than 1.0 g). Given that the carbohydrate in this case is entirely sugar, that basically means there are 100 g of sugar in 100 g of product.
Splenda Naturals is maltodextrin, combined with stevia extract to boost the sweetness. I couldn’t find a shot of the nutrition label on the Splenda site, but I strongly suspect that the logic of the preceding paragraph applies in this case, too.
i like ‘BETTER STEVIA’ brand.
I can get this at my local health food store in bulk but you can get it online it’s worth the money cause it’s really pure and nice and sweet and strong.
it’s powdered the one I like.
Erythritol all the way (if your body tolerates the… … … … … … effects!)
Stevia tastes awful to me.
For my morning coffee, this is my sweetener of choice:
It comes in plain and lots of different flavors.
It is stevia and if you hate the taste, I understand. I don’t get the stevia bitter wang with this that some people claim to get. Maybe it has something to do with coffee already having some bitter notes about it, not sure. I actually have tried using plain erythritol and an erythritol stevia blend in my coffee but always come back to the Sweet Drops.
Actually, I kinda like a few drops of the chocolate flavored Sweet Drops in there along with the Vanilla Creme but just a little.
Just what I like. I know artificial sweeteners are a very individual thing. What one person likes another may hate, and vice versa.
Good luck!
I really like this brand of stevia, I use 3 drops of the English Toffee flavour ones in my evening cup of peppermint tea.
There are a very large variety of flavors. I’d love to buy one of each to try out but when I look at the price, I tend to just buy the ones I know I want. Our local Kroger (grocery store) has about six of the varieties but I know there are a bunch more.
The coconut flavour is really good. In summer I used a few drops of it in some ice cold water with 1/8 tsp ascorbic acid (vitamin C powder!) it made a really tasty sweet/sharp coconuty combo.
I’ve also tried the mixed berry, orange cream and vanilla. The fruity ones are good for cold drinks but I didn’t care for them in anything hot!
This is a wonderful find! Thank you for posting that link to Amazon so I can buy some. I really enjoy a brand called BETTER STEVIA…as well. it’s very pure and strong.
it really is a concentrated nice form and it comes in a powder.
