No apetite and nauseous

(Jessica Lavoy) #1

I am two weeks in I posted about this before on Facebook and someone told me not to force myself to eat but a car can’t run on no gas . I have absolutely no appetiteit. is 5 o’clock almost and I haven’t even gotten to the halfway point on my macro calculator yet. I have two little kids and absolutely no energy to do anything. I know I’m hydrated and I’m getting all the electrolytes and taking lots of supplements. I even bit the bullet and ordered some MCT oil that is being delivered soon. is this normal to not want to eat at all and almost feel nauseous half the time even thinking about food? Is there some way to get what I need into me without having to really eat too much? like these fat bombs I keep reading about can I just eat a few scoops of almond butter throughout the day to meet my macros or is that not gonna work? I don’t ever want to see another other egg again :sob:

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m about a month in and I’ve seen great results…I’m also doing intermittent fasting. I literally have no appetite anymore and I feel like I have to force myself to eat enough calories. And when I do eat I get that lump in the stomach feeling like I overate, stomach gurgling all day, etc. It’s not fun. I’m eating foods that I’ve eaten for years that have never given me problems like bacon and eggs and avocados so I don’t think it’s the food. One thing I do to help get my counts up is to take tablespoons of good oils like coconut or extra virgin olive oil. Hope this gets better with more time.

Me too it wouldn’t be so bad if I was home alone all day but I’ve got a five-year-old and a two-year-old I’m just really scared I’m going to pass out while I’m carrying him up or down the stairs :frowning:

Your body is in the process of rebuilding your gut biome with new bacteria strains that will handle the new foods you are consuming. It does take a little time and you both are in the middle of the process. It does settle down and gets better. You do need to eat to give it foods to be able to make the adjustments. You don’t have to meet macros but try eating a couple more bites after you feel full at each meal.

I had no appetite the first few weeks but ate something anyway. Then I woke up one morning ravenously hungry. I’m at four months now and the hunger is much much less. All the advice is great. One main rule of Keto is “Eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re not.” I took that advice and am very pleased with my progress. It takes time.

That’s what I keep hearing but then I would literally have not eaten a bite in days and I’m pretty sure that is just not healthy on any diet?

You need to eat. What are some of your favorite Keto foods?

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #8

Are you by any chance getting a lot of your fat from vegetable oil with a high percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids? If so, switch to fats that are high in saturated and monounsaturated fats, such as butter, tallow, or lard, and you will notice a distinct improvement. Most vegetable oils are really seed oils and are unhealthy, The fruit oils, such as olive, coconut, and avocado, are much healthier and have a much lower percentage of PUFA’s.

Nope most of my fat is coming from coconut oil or butter. a little tiny bit of mayonnaise very sparingly and very occasionally but not much of that at all recently because I can’t stomach it

How much fat do you have on your body? I had a few days the first month where I wasn’t hungry but still had not fat adapted completely, so I couldn’t use all the energy stored in my extra 180 pounds of fat but I also wasn’t hungry, maybe 'cause I had started the fat adaptation process which keeps you sated. For those days I slept about 12-14 hours each day.

I have about 60 lbs to lose

(Aimee Moisa) #12

Ah, yeah. Leave the kids with another adult and sleep for a weekend, that’s literally what I had to do. :frowning:

Not an option

Bummer. :frowning:

It maybe you just have to wait it out. The first couple weeks or so I literally thought I had the flu (my Co workers had it) so I didn’t over analyze what I was eating. I just ate what I could, never had tracked macros, and it passed. It’s hard work little ones, but just treat this as if you were sick. Make sure you are eating enough salt! That was a big part of it for me. You lose alot of sodium with all that water.
It’s totally worth it. I’m 7 months in and have no regrets!

I have been there when I do EF. I mean I lost my appetite.

That is why I do not EF beyond 3 days and therefore I can recover my appetite back with literally forcing the food into my mouth on the forth day. On the fifth or sixth day I am back to normall

But regarding energy it keep going up when fasting. Of course you may have expected there will be weight loss as I am less than 10 kg overweight all of it in my belly. That is enough gasoline for one month.
