When I was a carboholic I would often wake up in the morning or the middle of the night sweaty. Sometimes just a little and others drenched. I never had associated this with diet. Recently I was talking to someone about night sweats and realized that I could not remember the last time that I had experienced this condition. They were gone, completely just like the acid re-flux I used to deal with on a near daily basis. I am not saying I will never wake up sweaty again, I am sure when other factors like illness, not taking the extra blankets off my bed when spring arrives and the temperatures warm etc. it will happen again, but no more diet induced night sweats.
Night Sweats
For me, I lost weight and severe body aches when I gave up carbs. I’m pretty sure the body aches were from bread I was eating at the time. I also sleep better and have better concentration. I know there were more things I gained from tossing out the carbs, but it was so long ago I have a hard time remembering…
I also lost body aches as well. I would wake up with a sore back and hips in the morning, my right knee would be sore throughout the day. I attributed this either the bed I was sleeping in or the years of working in an arduous job. I believe know it was the extra weight and the carbs in my diet.
I used to have to get up multiple times in the night to go pee – no more! So, sleeping better anyway, but it helps that I don’t have to empty my bladder again and again!
After reading this I just realized that I have not had night sweats since my keto WOE. I also sleep better and do not have to use Zzzquil or Aleve PM to sleep deeply. I also used to get up multiple times a night to go to the bathroom, but I do not do that anymore either. Amazing!
Bart, so true - last night I ate a lot of popcorn, around 180 grams of carbohydrates worth, after deducting for fiber content, and woke up with sweaty hair and a somewhat wet pillow. Does not happen with very low carb diet, for me.
