Newish to keto, just saying hello

(Jennifer Harington Brizzi) #1

Hi all, glad to find this group. I started Sept 16 and got into ketosis pretty quickly. I lost 9 pounds right away, probably water weight, then have been losing more slowly since then, because my calorie intake is probably too high. So far I’ve lost about 16 pounds (I don’t weigh every day because it fluctuates so much), which I’m pretty happy with, hoping to lose about 15 more, then plan to add back a bit of healthy carbs like beans and whole grains, no refined flours or sugar.

I counted macros the first few weeks but didn’t find that to be sustainable in my busy life, so I’ve been doing lazy keto since then. Other than a bit of cheating on Thanksgiving, I’ve been sticking to it. I have MCT oil every morning, and Dr. Berry’s ketorade pretty often.
I’ve never been able to stick to a diet but this has been great and not that hard because I’ve always had more of a salt/fat tooth than sweet tooth.

Welcome to the forum, Jennifer!

If you’re being strict to keep your carbs under 20g, have sufficient fat in your diet, and eat until your full, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Starting out, don’t worry about how many calories you’re eating, just focus on keeping the carbs low. There will be plenty of time to experiment with macro percentages and adding “healthy carbs” later.

Welcome Jennifer. This way of eating is so easy that even lazy people can do it and we can still eat plenty while eating healthier than we have ever known. Hope you enjoy the journey.
