Newbie :) When you aren't hungry when should you eat?

This seems like a bit of a weird question to me but I’m curious what others do and if anyone has advice that could help me wrap my head around this. I’ve been doing keto since right after thanksgiving with great results so far, I feel really good, losing weight and I’m so much less bloated all the time. This week I just haven’t really been hungry, in the beginning of this diet I wouldn’t be hungry all the time but I would get hungry sometimes. I prepare all of my lunches and breakfasts on Sunday for Monday through Friday, it’s something I’ve always done and it keeps me on track with my eating no matter what diet I’m on. This week I barely touched any of my breakfasts or lunches and I just haven’t been hungry. I do eat at night if/when I’m hungry and I have coffee in the morning and tea a few times a day. I have been having a small salad of spinach with olive oil and vinegar at some point during the day to get some greens in too. Okay enough rambling on what I’m trying to figure out is at what point should I eat if I’m not hungry? or should I just not eat and consider it fasting? I’m trying to wrap my head around the idea of not eating the meals I already have ready to go, I don’t like to waste food. Also I don’t want to mess up my progress by not eating enough if that makes sense.I’m so used to being someone who had to eat every few hours and now not feeling hungry is different, but nice. I know everyone is different so i guess i’m just looking for some general advice while I mentally try to get myself used to this huge difference in my eating.

Eat when hungry and when not hungry trust that your body is feasting on its own fat stores.

Thanks that’s what I have been doing, I think I’m just second guessing myself because not being hungry is so new

Yes I don’t see the point in forcing eating if you are truly not hungry. As long as you’re good with intake on water and electrolytes you should do fine.

At this point, sounds like you’re good and fat adapted. Go with how your body signals

Welcome to life without processed foods, mainly sugar, brainwashing our hormones and convincing us that we constantly need to eat. It’s an odd feeling to be used to badly behaving hunger signals our entire lives and then suddenly when our hunger starts acting like it’s supposed to, it worries us.

I’ve noticed quite a few people with a similar experience in regards to changing hunger signals, myself included. It took some faith to trust the process and learn how to trust my hunger but I went with it and didn’t look back. I may look back now, from time to time, but when I do so it’s in a rear-view mirror to wave goodbye to a puffier version of my current self.

As long as you feel great, I highly encourage you to also trust the process. I probably went 90 days averaging about half the calories I used to consume but eventually the hunger did return. Granted it’s a much more polite hunger than the carb-driven one I used to know and a natural response by the body saying “Hey, we can’t keep losing all this weight with no end in sight. We need to stablize it”. At that point, adjustments need to be made but it’s not the end of our weight loss journey. It simple means you need to continue to follow your hunger toward a higher number of calories and keep restricting your carbs.

Keto helps rid our bodies of food addiction by forcing our bodies to use fat stores. We honestly do not need to eat as often as we do, whether it be out of boredom, a sense of necessity, etc. If you’re not hungry, don’t eat. I recommend, when you’re hungry, to eat a small amount (I’ve used kid’s sized dishes for years) and see if you’re body feels satisfied. It’s actually a really good sign that your body is on the right track if your hunger has lessened. There will be ebbs and flows but, personally, I find paying attention to portions and if my body is satisfied helps keep it on track.

I’ve lost over 100 pounds and my number ONE rule is…I dont eat if I’m not hungry. Sometimes that results in low calories or a fast. It’s ok. I’m still here happy and healthy
