Newbie - too much veg?

(Ellen) #1

I found it very difficult the first week but it’s getting better, just wondering if I’m eating too much veg? I have salad for lunch (home made dressing with lots of olive oil) then usual protein & veg, LOADS of veg, maybe a whole cauliflower mashed with cheese or half a broccoli stir fried etc, is this too much?

NO. Unless the cauliflower is enormous and you’re going over 20 net grams of carbs (if that’s your target for the day).

Fab! Thanks for the quick reply.

Vegetables are not free food. All contain carbohydrates and, especially when starting out, need to be weighed or measured and counted so you don’t go over the 20 gram limit.

Some, like lettuce, have so few carbs that you can eat a pile of it. You are safest if you measure it as well. After you are fat adapted you may find you can increase your carb limit. But don’t sabotage your early efforts by consuming more than 20 g. Be strict now, to assure quickest fat adoration.

Ok thanks, I’ll start weighing it out and making sure.
