Newbie.... my 4 months experience

I came to Keto via the LC Blood Sugar Diet after the U.K. press had highlighted the impact on diabetes. I wasn’t diabetic but on the path, my blood glucose was approaching pre-diabetes, I’d put on the weight on my trunk and physically unfit. My regime began in June 2018

I started by cutting carbs, but as I explored my options, the Keto approach / WOE resonated. As another techie, it made sense and the more I read, the logic and simplicity clicked. So early July 2018, my Keto journey began

I’ve read and absorbed data, consumed podcasts, YouTube, reflected on the impacts. Adopting OMAD, IF, extended fasting, tracking macros and micros; all to maintain the momentum. In parallel, I’ve increased my activity levels and cannot believe how much energy I have, I can train so much in comparison to only a few months ago.

I didn’t get the blood work, but my BP and blood glucose have improved significantly. My resting heart rate and recovery heart rate had improved. I’m now at a weight that I was approx 30 years ago, I’m amazed

As I approach my target weight, less than 4kg, my next decision is how to move forward as pure Keto is a challenge.

I’ve realised that many FB Keto groups have too many rules and hard lines… I’ve learnt a lot over the last 120 days, become far more attuned to my body

As I’ve shifted approx 30kg / lost 23% of my starting weight using my Keto version, I plan to stabilize my weight for a few months, loosen some of the constraints and see how I cope

All I know is that I don’t want to repeat mistakes that put me in that situation, and I want to push my nutrition and fitness to suit rather than rule my life

Sounds like you’re doing great! Keep up the good work!

Like @Ketodaisy said. It sounds like you already figured it out. The beauty of the keto lifestyle is being able to trust your body. Fuck the dogma, and listen to your body. If you’re at a maintenance point and have your metabolic issues in check, you can probably be a little more liberal with carbier veggies and fruits. If you feel off or notice weight creep or carb cravings return, then scrap it and stick to what got you this far.

Thanks for the support!

It’s definitely been a journey, but that’s almost as much fun. I’ve rediscovered my passion for cooking, and now review the food I consume with a different lense!

Thanks dude!

You’re 100% correct and your comments are really appreciated. As you highlight it is such a personal journey… it started with addressing weight and general health, but has become much, much more!

The increased understanding of how toxic the western diet was has forced wider consideration. I’m sharing my experiences with those I know as they’ve seen the weight loss and are intrigued. I’m just trying to educate those around me into reflecting on their food choices, rather than be ignorant to the consequences!
