New w/ Questions on Weight Loss Slowing down and Sodium

(Tony) #1

Good Afternoon

First post here, have been doing Keto (or lazy keto) since January. I started at 5’10 370 lbs and I am currently 5’10 320.

I have stalled out the last few weeks with slow losses. Any tips? I am more aggressively starting to watch my fat to protein balance. I also am going to decrease my calories since I have not done so since losing the 50 lbs (that said I had a significant deficit to begin with, staying under 1900 cals a day right now).

I also have noticed I am struggling with Sodium lately over 4,000-6,000 mg per day. Finding it hard to not end up with a lot of sodium in my diet.

Any advice?

I would not reduce calories per say. I would increase them. Eat enough protein to maintain lean body mass, and then mostly eat fat till full, and enough veggies for the micro nutrients as long as they are being used to carry more fat.

Salt is your friend. I am going to look for the link to something I watched a few days ago, but 6000 mg is actually spot on for lowest mortality, and the [sp] naturesis - salt excretion - that goes on during ketosis means the LCHF diet requires more salt than SAD.

Dr. Phinney, at around 10:43, or 14:45 for the crux of the matter.

Whenever I get to that much sodium, I seem to put weight on (thinking retaining water?).

Is that normal?
