I always loved on lower carbs but now keto. I did zero carb but fat content was too low and cause some side effects. Now on keto with %2 carbs for almost 2 months i have no issues. It’s all in the details. I keep me fat at around 65%. Lost 20 lb. I stalled for two weeks after the first month and had a cheat meal and then I continues to loose. In need to get back into my competitive weight and am enjoying eating this way.

I am new-bie, first to the forum because I am working on keto program, first no one in my military circles is in any way is behind me, second, my doctor did not have any information for me. and lastly, I was interested in the clarity I got from the MCT oil and the change in my waist. I am retired and soon after diagnosed with (Gist) cancer (told-terminal) and now hopefully clean of the liver cancer. I probably had a fatty liver, and now I feel like it is working at a better because my kids kept telling me my breath smelled. I think if was ketones… Before I had lost 8 lbs but lost 6 inches waist, but total weight 20 lbs since my retirement 4 years. also had embolized radiation for liver and i think the keto has helped greatly, That is my story,
I have researched lots of fasting and ketosis with DR Berg, My brain-fog I had was bad lots of family issues, I think I was pushing the fat and other toxins from my liver and body in the last year since I have delved into the ketosis, my mind fog has gotten better.
hope to learn from the keto forum,
Steve sound like you are on the right path, do you have any fitness coaches that use the ketosis and keto? and what is your competition weight, and type of sport?
After my military career wanted to be on Ninja Warrior or do a mud run. but never was not able to excel past a certain point. later.

Thank you for your service, i was in the marines myself. I’ve always been competitive. My competitive weight was about 215-225. I’m 259 but thanks to good genes i carry weight well. I want to get to 230. I fought for years, dabbled in boxing, comparative moutain biking (downhill racing), crossfit for 5 yrs but aftet a life of athletics and 11 knee surgeries I’ve had to relaxed. Being 53 I’m still active. I found the best way to workout is one super hard cardio/resistance workout a week. The rest is maintenance. I do pushups, kettle bells ect. If i workout too often its easy to stop losing. Blood glucose goes up.
Those ninja warriors are a breed of their own. Super all around talent and exceptional strength. If you got even a little down the course that’s amazing. My personal ability is strength and short burst of high intensity thus fighting. Martial arts to be exact. I think it’s all in the personality. My wife refers to me a the third child. I’m a cool dad. I refuse to grow up.

Keto for me has always felt natural i just did not understand it. Once you get used to it, it
becomes so easy and almost effertless. Using apps like myfitness pal helps as a daily log. After a while you don’t really need it but keeping up with it helps from SLOWLY BUT SURELY going off course. Having a friend , mine is my old fighting partner to share the same path. We communicate every day no matter what. We post our intake via text every day and hold reach other accountable.

Hope this is not too long but i wish you the best. Make it a lifestyle not a diet. I never refer it ti keto just high protein way of life.

Thanks Steve
I am at the first days of this journey (keto and IF) I am having fun with keto, feel good and want other people to hear about it, but that’s the reason I came to the Forum. My heart health is better other reasons Testosterone and because of less weight and belly fat inches. I did not know I had much fat but it has melted away my mid-section but I have a few inches of (skin) to loss. I also took the most of my sons 32in pants and gave all mine to him as he is going to be taller than me.
I have found the Dr Fung’s books and internet information, he stated that the skin left will be metabolized to protein. First fast for 24hrs with no carbs over 20 gms and try to extend fast but it is hard, not for me, but because I must cook for my son and daughter find out about alternate Keto foods.
Steve, 4 years ago I could not keep up with my wife’s Cross-fit routine but now I feel like I could work-out again. I feel like when I first enlisted in military 24yrs.
Info about the apt is cool but I have heard that a lot of the information on the apps could be off on Cal counts but better than no help with macros, I still use a memo on phone to keep up account of daily food…
I am trying to get a friend, Alex on the Keto of IF, and it’s hard because he lives 127 miles away San Diego, but maybe it will happen soon.
I never refer it diet of way of life “keto just high protein way of life” is a great change to help educate others. I will use the term maybe that is a way to go.
A side note I thought of changing my 1 bachelorette degree or 2 degree to fitness and nutrition related, not sure how yet, and I have not had so much energy in a long time as I keep up with program.
Also, I have been carting a Total gym around for 18 years because of the benefits to my health and now my paradigm has changed, I am using it again but not to loss of weight and that is great and working on the idea of fasted workout is hard mentally that is my last goal. 20 years of un-training of military standard of carbs before and after the workout now I use a Bcaa no sugar. Well later hope you keep going losing the weight and hope the aliments go away.
